It's before my time but I always thought they were a big underachieving club. Lots of people supported due to Munich. Sort of Liverpool pre recent success.Man united were a nothing club before Ferguson and have been a nothing club since he left
He is solely responsible for them being as big as they are now and would have won the same trophies at any club he went to
If he hadn’t joined them they’d have won absolutely nothing and may have even been relegated by now
They aren’t special, they just had a special manager
I don't fully agree Busby made them what they were globally. They did fuck all after him until Ferguson came along.Man united were a nothing club before Ferguson and have been a nothing club since he left

They are to big to fail now, they cant keep chucking money at it and failing. They will rise again.I don't fully agree Busby made them what they were globally. They did fuck all after him until Ferguson came along.
Basically all their success has come under 2 managerial legends. It's almost as though they need that godfather type manager that comes along once every 40 years to be successful. Unfortunately for them Ten Haag isn't the next Ferguson and the game has evolved so much they are unlikely to find one.

I agree, my point still stands. This is exactly what they've been doing in the last 10 years.

Richest clubs win things... Eventually
Man u are city spending not Liverpool or Chelsea. Unless a huge change in economics of football they will be winning things imoRichest clubs normally win things but when there's a host of other rich clubs in the equation the chances are the odds decrease significantly.

They've been shit for 10 years and still top revenue generater, if it looked like that was dropping off ild be with you. While they are making that cash they can keep trying over and over, most other clubs have one chance perhaps 2Again they've done that the last 10 years and got progressively worse.
Normally you can get away with that if you're the only team or perhaps 1 of 2 teams in the league with money but the Prem is a different beast now, not only do City have the money but the likes of them, Chelsea and Liverpool have the pull and the attractiveness.
And it's not just about how much you spend, it's how you spend it, look at how well Liverpool is ran compared to Utd it's night and day and this comes down to the structure of the club which is maintained by the owners...since the Glazers have come in they haven't given two shits about Utd, yes they provide cash to spend but the laissez faire culture they set in the club is toxic and rubs off on the staff and the players, until they sell up or leave then Utd won't go progress to anywhere near the heights of where they were before.

Yes keep trying like the last 10 years. Like they did between Busby and ferguson, they kept chucking money and eventually paid offYes...keep trying over and over like they have done in the last 10 years...
And then they didLiverpool were once the richest (and benefiting from revenues that other clubs complained about)..... Then they went 30 years without wining the league.
Additional factors:
- Petro-ball
- The Glaziers don't give a fuck.
And then they did
