Of the three countries above Sweden ( in the Forbes list of the happiest countries ) ; only Denmark ( in first place admittedly) use VAR . But they also cycle a lot and invented Lego .

# confounding variables .

Just putting it out there .

Top magazine porn too, back in the day.

Just saying...

:ange-hmm:

Scrap the fucking thing it's killing the league.

I used to watch nearly every PL game I could now I can't be arsed and only watch spurs.

As someone who attends championship games and lower league game pretty regularly also it's so much more enjoyable to know that when a goals given it's given.

Can't even celebrate goals now.

My only fear is that total ref fuck ups like Oliver missing Davies get kicked in the bollocks will now be missed.

But for every one of those things it gets right it seems you get 10 calls that just dont sit right

It works in Europe both CL & Internationals. Hardly notice it. Quick decision only watching a replay at normal speed and no drawing lines or spending 5 mins to review.

There’s a lot broken about VAR but as others have mentioned it can work reasonably well, it just doesn’t work with the PL implementation.

Some of this is I truly believe the PL refs are some of the worst in the world. We build them up, but, by and large they’re not very good.

Second is the offside usage. The drawing of the lines is insane and not used in other countries. Again it makes it super inconsistent and against the intent of the rule.

Can VAR work? Yes. Do I have any faith that it will be implemented correctly? No, not at all.

They won't scrap it now. We all know how this goes...

After the vote there'll be a statement about how the procedures will be looked at before the season begins.

Then in August we'll have a list of new standards to abide by.

First two game weeks they'll be ridiculously strict especially in our game and it'll cost us points. Pundits will call for common sense post-game and in the following days leading to a much softer approach going forward where other clubs don't get the decision we did.

Sky is blue.

Grass is green.

Woolwich are pricks.

I leave my first post in this thread up for posterity. It's very funny to me in hindsight.

I do still believe that there's some type of implementation of VAR that would have been great, but this system is an absolute farce and in my opinion it brings the League into disrepute.

I'd personally rather get fucked over by cunts like Oliver than VAR tbh if it means we can celebrate goals again.

I hope Spurs don't read the room wrongly again for the umpteenth time this season and vote to stick with it.

Agree. But interesting tonight on the United coverage all of Rooney, Keane and Cole came out saying they hate it and want rid. I was surprised they didn’t follow the company line but they were very strong on it.

Also they said that the officials should be asked their thoughts on it. I bet they hate it. All it seems to do is give them more criticism and abuse.

Interestingly after the game when talking about it again they’d toned down their comments and were saying things along the lines of it needs improving rather than booting. Someone had obviously had a word. Opinions were reined in. It’s obvious no player who plays or played really likes it.

People are missing the point I think, the issue isn't VAR it's the PGMOL, if you remove VAR the PGMOL refs will still fuck up decisions but they'll be even more horrendous.

They won't scrap it as the big clubs will feel it will negatively effect them in Europe where it will still be there, essentially slightly different way of having to play the game.

We know how both work. Most now agree it's better without.

People will still moan without, and have a right to even if they wanted to get rid.
