The nerves have kicked in. The biggest game in 6 years, and arguably this one is bigger than the UCL final in terms of future of the club.

The most important thing is that the players play the game, not the occasion. Don't get overwhelmed and try silly shit. Stick to how we've played in this knockout run. Disciplined, controlled and taking our chances.

Vicario
Porro - Romero - Van de Ven - Udogie
Bentancur - Biss
Johnson - Odebert - Son
Solanke

The creativity issue in midfield is a real problem. I don't want to see a trio of Sarr, Biss and Bentancur because it's torture. Odebert has looked lively there, but I also wouldn't be against Tel or Richy starting.

United have players who know how to win these games. Casemiro has never lost a European final, Bruno has been in great form and Amad is back. 3 players who can win a game. We just have to be at our best, and having our back 4 fully fit is a huge bonus as we're a better team with them playing, and Porro is a good creativity source.

One last game, a chance to become legends of our modern history.

COYFS!!!

I suspect we will see Richy start the game over Odobert. This will allow Solanke to drop deep and chase the ball when we are out of possession. Richy also gives us an outlet for long balls and crosses, and no doubt will win us some free kicks in dangerous positions.

With the ball, I'd expect Son and Porro to be our creators; and we may well maintain a flat back 3 of Romero, VDV, Udogie to allow Porro free run to push forward.

We really need a big performance from Bissouma to shut down Fernandez and Casimero from picking their passes. He simply cannot allow players to run behind him and be playing catch up. Far too often we get punished with late runners into the box, with our midfielder's ball watching as players ghost past them.

United have more game changers on their bench. We have Tel, Gray, Odobert and Sarr - who are unlikely to have any impact outside of replacing tired legs.

I think by the 70th minute; we will need a 2-goal cushion, which may allow us to bring in Danso, Davies to firm up the defense and really park the bus with a 5-4-1 formation.

if we are left chasing the game with United camped deep in their own box, I'm not sure we have the firepower or muscle to break through; and our main goal threat would be Richarlison; or a Sarr worldie from outside the box. Johnson, Son, Odobert, Tel, Solanke possess zero threat against low blocks.

Agree with this but I've already deludingly convinced myself we'll play Sarr, can keep a clean sheet, and win 1-0.
My issue with the Sarr, Bissouma, Bentancur trio is that I feel like they've proven multiple times that it provides absolutely no threat going forward, whilst on the flipside it has also proven multiple times that it does not make us defensively sound either, nor result in us controlling a game.

It's a double negative, and this ain't maths so that doesn't result in a positive!

Compounded by the fact that our forwards aren't particularly creative, it creates a very turgid attacking outfit, and puts a lot of pressure on Porro to deliver.

You've not said who you would play instead of Kulu though.

Vic

Porro Romero VDV Udoggie

Bissouma Bentancur

Solanke

Johnson Richie Son

But I think if Sarr is fit, he'll go with Sarr instead of Solanke and Solanke instead of Richarlison.

The latter leaves us with Tel, Odobert and Richie on the bench which isn't too bad.
