We've gone forwards

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Nothing wrong with the support from the fans yesterday, all that happened was that when the team fell away the fans reacted. That’s normal.

...That quickly becomes a case of chicken or the egg tho. Should players raise the fans or vice versa? Old school fans would probably argue the latter whilst younger fans the former.

My positon here isnt to question fandom (individual or collective), moreso speculate that 'Semi-syndrome' has pervaded the fan's mentality....

The picture painted for me was thousands of yidos resigned to defeat with over a 3rd of the match left.

A sad day.

But the points we lost in the first part of the season - you can't make that back. They're lost for ever.

First 7 PL matches at home - 9 pts worse off than last year.

Chavs - 3 pts
Swans - 2
Burnley - 2
West Brom - 2

Even some of the ones we won - Palace 1-0 and B'mouth 1-0, we were very average.

A draw v Chavs, say, and wins against the other 3, puts us a point ahead of United in 2nd. At WHL, and in any normal season without a City doing what they've done, I think we would have again competed for the PL title as we have for the last 2 seasons.
Totally agree and when I slated Wembley back in September I was called a melting negative cunt because it was only a few games.
I said back then it will cost us come May, but I was just a cunt.
Now it’s clicked a bit, but people using it as an excuse after around November doesn’t cut it.
If people were fine with the shit we served up against Burnley, Swansea and WBA etc, and Wembley was the best option etc etc, then dont complain about dropped points now.

Aye image if we DONT make the champions league o for fuck sake....we wil need to set up a suicide watch for some posters.....:(

But yes and it would then be right to talk of choking. We haven't done that once this season. Reacted slowly or been unduly jolted during games but no choking.

Between now where the lactic acid of disappointment is at its worst and the Watford game I expect to hear and feel sounds of assurance from the players, the manager and maybe even Levy. We would all welcome that I feel.

But we can get 3rd this season and when Pochettino talks next that sbould be the tone or even talk of still wanting 2nd.

And next season talk of wanting to win everything and having no priority other than tangible success.

I just don’t think we have gone forwards as a team from last season. We look slow and predictable

Fair enough, the ground move has to be considered though IMO, because for the first few months, we were crap there, and those lost points are now starting to look very ugly.
We developed another formation this season, which was an improvement, and we had an epic run between December and April.
Its basically been an absolute shit week.....one week in three months, but the reason the reactions are so strong is because its the same old issues, at the same stage of the season again and again and again.

Start slow, get knocked out the Carabou, have an amazing middle period, tail off, and get knocked out of the FA semi.

So in a way, you're right, we seem to be treading water.

Granted i had a TV- perspective yesterday, but every time the camera panned to our support we were met with vacuous faces and no visible suggestion that they were rallying the team.

Thought both sides were deathly silent for chunks of the game.
i think thats natural. when united went 1 up i thought "ohh no, not again"
a % of the support at the ground must feel the same. and if a 100% rocking support has an effect on performance, a fidgety unsure crowd must do too. If its a symbiotic relationship when its good, then the opposite applies

Although the same can be said for Anfield, The Etihad, The Emirates, Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford and so on.
I don't quite get why people expect all our home games to have this non stop cauldron of noise that no other PL club manages to sustain.
On the contrary, considering all our fans being spread out and so far from the pitch we've put all the above clubs to shame really
the anfield crowd is the biggest myth in football. quiet unless they are winning, and quiet except for you'll never walk alone is played pregame.

The first half was great, but our tactics second half made it all too obvious what the outcome would be.
Atmosphere was shite, and understandably so....I don’t blame any of our lot for their anxiety.
When we take 35 passes to get to the edge of the box, and the move ends up back at Vorm, there is fuck all to shout about.
Just sit there and wait for the inevitable.

Yep and this sits within Mourinho talking of United being in control.

We were on top for 20 minutes. Had we scored a 2nd I am still unsure if we would have won but it would have helped.

2nd half was close but with a whiff of they will score and win.

Pochettino has to find a couple of players but also instil something a tad stronger or be stronger with players. Kane had to come off yesterday. It demanded it.

I remind everyone. 3 games we lost in cup competitions and we led in each. That is a poor stat.

A few of my thoughts on yesterday and this season...

The teams above us have strengthened with world class players and are in their own stadia. That's the difference.

I believe we're a better TEAM than Manure, but yesterday their big names turned it on when it mattered. That's what you pay 80 million and massive wages for.

Kane isn't fully fit and might have been better as an impact sub. We beat them 2-0 without him after all. Dembele took a knock early and got out muscled by Pogba as a result. He bossed their midfield in the 2-0 win when he was 100%.

Poch should've played Toby in a back three. Second goal probably doesn't happen then. Dropping Vorm would've sent the wrong message to the dressing room, and he was unsighted for the goal.

Bringing on Lucas for Davies was a gutsy move that didn't come off. Vic should've been on for Dembele much earlier.

Trippier was outstanding yesterday. We've signed a liability in Aurier. Guy's a penalty/foul throw waiting to happen. Sell him in the summer
please.

If we manage to secure 4th I'll be more than pleased considering our Wembley record before this season.

Poch is a fantastic man manager and coach, but tactically one dimensional. Still the best man for the job imo.

There's not a losing mentality at the club. We're just on a steep learning curve to success.
