If Moura has a couple of bad games, or if Dele pucks up an injury, then Lo Celso will get a chance and I think he would hold his place ahead of Moura. He may even manage that with just one or two smaller opportunities because he looks the real deal to me,

Winks involved in 2 goals yesterday , and passing forward , I have a sneaky feeling Jose might see him as a regular in this team, and if he continues to be involved in goals then i will be very happy!

I think Lucas will eventually fall out of the starting XI because he is very limited technically. He hurts our buildup.

Lloris
Aurier Alderweireld Vertonghen Davies
Winks Dier
Lo Celso Dele Son
Kane

I think that after a few weeks this will be our starting XI. NDombele needs time to adapt to playing in the centre at this level, his physique and stamina are not there yet.

Think it’s wasteful to have GLC play on a wing. To get the best of him, he needs to play centrally.

Think José will finally bring some width into this team. Right now those options are Son, Lucas, Sess.

So after today's game we now have a better idea of how we will set up under the new gaffer. Ignoring new arrivals in Jan, who do you think will establish themselves as his first XI?

For me:
Gazza
Aurier--Toby--Jan--Davies
Dier---Ndombele
Lucas-----Dele----Son
Kane
Defensively I think Jose will persist with Aurier as we are not blessed with many options there and maybe he can get a tune out of him.
He loves Toby but his comments about Jan also suggest he's highly rated and I think he will go for the experienced duo
I thought Davies played well today and he is way more suited than Rose to this hybrid LB/CB role he was asked to play today.

Dier wasn't great but I think Mourinho will insist on having a proper defensive mind in there and as Wanyama doesnt have knees it has to be Dier - hopefully he can play into some form.

Ndombele can do everything Winks can do but better so I think it's clear he will takeover when he's back.

It looks like we could have something quite special with that front 4 and I think they will continue to be starters going forward.

That leaves Lamela, Gio and Sess for rotation behind Kane and that's quite healthy. Gio has real quality and will be ready to step in if any of that attacking 3 start to drop form.

I think Eriksen's cameo today was his last chance and Jose will have seen enough. The guy has nothing left to give in a Spurs shirt.

If Jan doesn't sign a new contract, I think he's going to stick with Sanchez.

Also I'm not sure if you're suggesting Gazza would still play if Lloris is fit (which I think he wouldn't).

That front 4 is set in stone already in my opinion.

I can't believe so many people have Toby in the "untouchables".

He's been fucking awful for going on 2 seasons now. The injuries (and losing the pace of Walker to clean up behind him on his side of the pitch) have turned him into a shell of what he used to be. He's constantly out of position and he's easily turned by even the shittiest of strikers now.

The shirt still says Alderweireld on the back, but he's been our worst center back for a while. Mourinho doesn't owe him any loyalty due to his previous performances, and I won't be surprised to see him settle on Sanchez & Vertonghen.

Lucas is the one that I am not sold on. I think we would be better off with someone like Lamela or Lo Celso who actually picks their head up. Lucas for all his althetisicm, he just doesn’t get his head up and move the ball. He would rather dribble.

I do think Mourinho will go with Dier and Ndombele. He will want some girth in there. The interesting thing about today was that Dier was playing further forward than Winks when we had the ball. Mourinho clearly told him to let Winks take the ball off the back line when the ball didn’t go long.

I can’t guess how we will play for the rest of the year, but I hope we don’t just become a lump it forward type of team even though we did win many of the second balls. I just don’t think that will work against stronger sides that are on form. We will have to be confident in our play and interlink from the middle third to the final third.

Lamela is aggressive, and hard working so I think he might survive, but with limited playing time. The rest, I agree. Jose can sell some players, including Hugo and generate more funds to spend.
Funny, I keep thinking that Lamela could shine and really find a place under Mourinho. He has always liked players with a little extra grit to them.

Will he rotate as much as Poch?

Mourinho is more tactically aware. I don't think he will have a go to line up. He'll decide what is best depending on the injury list and who the opposition is.

If everyone was fit then it'll come down to the opposition. He said it himself in an interview.

Pretty much that, though I wouldn’t rule out Lloris getting his place back, Walker-Peters or Foyth taking the RB position, and possibly Lo Celso or Lamela competing with Moura. Possibly Sessegnon instead of Davies.

I actually rate Aurier, but just see him as too hot-headed. Lloris would probably be a good fit for a tactical approach that doesn’t rely on a keeper being able to pass a ball. I love Moura and would be happy for him to be a regular starter, but he’s the most likely to lose out against Dele and Son.

Sessegnon could be the one that really misses out. I really rate him and think he was a massive signing, but he fits the wing-back formation more than a flat back four. Maybe with Foyth at RB and Dier as a DM there’s more flexibility to allow Sessegnon to roam forward, but that doesn’t seem to be Mourinho’s style

Jose might like Sessengon for the left wing role too as backup to Son.

Sess could do what Aurier did today just on the other side. Have Foyth or Sanchez at right back and slip into a back three like Davies with Sess playing the Aurier role.
