Very very odd decision by campbell doing that back in day. Also think he did that to us by spite. Thats why i cant forgive him. It was flagrant. Couldnt get a ticket for the game when he came back but watched it in the pub on the corner of whl. Packed out and boy the atmosphere in tottenham that day you cut the atmosphere with a knife. Think deep down he regrets doing it.
I get the impression that Judas has a God complex where he believes that he is infallible. He has never shown any remorse or basically understanding of why Spurs fans are angry at him. In his mind he probably believes that it’s everyone’s else fault except his. So I don’t think he regrets anything he’s done in his life.

I think he does regret it looking back. He wont be remembered as a great player. But turning his back on our club and sticking the knife in and twisting it. One banner i saw in crowd on tv before game was spot on 'we hate you because we loved you'. I do think as well campbell did it to deliberately antagonise us. Well he certainly got a reaction..
20 years on. 😊

I hope he regrets it, I hope it eats at him inside daily. I have my doubts as he’s consistently made comments (not only about Spurs) that makes him look like he’s on another wavelength to everyone on the planet. No ability to read a room when he opens his mouth. Very unlikable person.

Sometimes I think yep it was a long time ago and perhaps it’s time to let bygones be bygones..... and then I grab a hold of myself and give myself a stern talking to and then I’m back in the room! Bet he cries himself to sleep, shame!

That's how I justify my not forgiving him - he has never said sorry! Well, I hope he rots in that very hot place!!!

That's the problem. He needs to say sorry.

No-one outside of Spurs gives a shit..... To them he's just Campbell the successful PL & England CB.

Even at the time.... Listen to the comms in that vid. The tone is overwhelmingly "what's the matter Spurs? Get over it...."..... And that was 20 years ago... Imagine how non-plussed today's cash-obsessed game/fans would be.

Fuck him.

It's not as if it was a mistake.
He knew exactly what he was doing and the cunt knew it for months before he signed for them.

No apology would ever cut him some slack from me.

Far too late for that. He could offer me a million quid, and it wouldn't change my feelings on him.
Unfortunately, as a good Christian, I am obliged to forgive if the sinner is truly sorry. So I hope he never says sorry. He's so up his own backside I doubt he ever will.

You're a better woman than I am, Mrs P.

:tanguythumb:

(p.s in fairness, if Sol ever did say sorry, I HIGHLY doubt he would actually mean it, the disingenuous little shit)

Such hypocrisy though. West Ham fans are still bitter about Paul Ince for less, Woolwich fans still hate Nasri and Adebayor for less, United fans are bitter about Jose for less. Judas committed the worst crime in football.

That's football fandom for you..... If we united in our principles it would be a better game as a whole (see ESL)...... Unrealistic unless the case in point directly effects every club though.

Oh how we laughed (me included) when Adebayor slid on his knees to troll the scum.

I know a Gooner who tried to run onto the pitch to get at Adebayor when that happened. He’s banned from Emirates for life. What a shame….

We got to Tottenham at 12, the atmosphere was evil, seemed to be old bill every 20 yards!

Plotted up outside Rudolph’s waiting
I remember that day well and you are spot on, no other word could describe that atmosphere better than "evil."

Cozzers everywhere, meat wagons parked all along the centre of the high road. After the match there were thousands waiting along the sides of the high road, cozzers or not, just waiting for the goons to be escorted out, after being held back for ages, just to kick off with them.

In all the years I've been going to WHL, since 1977, I've never experienced such a nasty atmosphere as that game, before, during and after. It was genuinely scary because you could literally feel the hate.

Think it was Lee Dixon who told the story that the players on the team bus were genuinely scared that the bus was going to get pelted and Campbell was sat at the back behind the darkened windows, and they wanted him to get to the front, so we would target him and leave the rest of the team alone. Get the feeling he wasn't liked much!
