Ohmy ohmy...

I try to make it quick -
1) I highlight Leicester win NOT to copy their model ffs. It is clear and obvious point that over past 20 years EPL hasn't been "mission impossible" if such midget of the club won it. While in Spain for past 20 years ONLY Real, Barca and Atleti have won titles.

2) Bullshit about affording or not affording risks. We could have afforded such players too. Zero difference between signing 1 player for 100 mil or signing Ndombelly and Lo Celso in the same window for combined 100+ mil. When they flopped with one big deal (Felix) we lost as much on the pair too..

3) It is not "needing 2 teams to have an off year whilst we need 5". It is different if those 5 are slightly ahead of you or those 2 are SIGNIFICANTLY ahead of you. I am talking about past 20 years and during that time Barca and Real have been in different class compared to Atleti and others while in EPL it has been 6 teams in much closer competition. We have been during years ahead of likes of Chelsea and Woolwich in terms of income. Atleti has NEVER not even ONCE have been even close to Real nor Barca.
And about other teams below - I do not give a damn about who is better wage bill - Villareal or West Ham, because to win a title you have to beat the biggest fishes.
Just a point of clarity here. You're referring to the last 20 years in Spain, when comparing the gulf between Barca, Real and the rest. That gulf was there for us until recently. Utd and Chelsea were light years ahead of us for ability to spend, City in the last 10 years. Liverpool and Woolwich also had a huge revenue advantage over us until recently.

20 years ago, we were still a mid table struggler, with no endorsement pull, no player pull, and in an ageing stadium with nigh on half the attendance of all of those teams.

You can't use our current revenue position as a comparison with teams who've outstripped it over the majority of the last 20 years, it's a false equivalence.

For 20+ years, we've had 5 of the biggest clubs on Earth to contend with, Atleti have had 2.

It's a vicious circle though.
Arse and City don't need much because they have done the groundwork to build strong squads.
We on the other hand keep taking punts that fail and we then have to keep rebuilding the squad every season. And we get the same old "we can't do it all in one season" excuse.
You’re missing the point, this is a team in transition.

It has been in transition for 20 years.

Trust the process. :levywtf:

We need a more established right wing , current ones are still raw. Similarity a more established defensive midfielder. A young up and coming (with some experience ) left back/centreback.

As per usual, the loon squad have got completely carried away about a young player.

He’s nowhere near ready to be a regular starter. And he wasn’t that bad today but he’s miles away from the finished article.

Yeah, he's a kid. Him, Bergvall etc should be eased in over the next few seasons, probably a loan spell here or there if they're struggling to make any impact. No way should they be forced in to the XI to make up for a lack of investment when it comes to signing players ready now.

I’ll be honest, I thought he was completely powderpuff today.

He’s an 18 year old kid. The idea that he will do anything over the next two to three years is absurd.

Go to Bryan Gil’s thread and read the posts after he made first first couple of appearances and you will get the same guff being spouted.

Odebert is eager, is nippy and tricky but he is far, far from the finished article and tbh it’s a crazy position the club have put him in, essentially signing him as their marquee winger signing and expecting him to come in and be the saviour.
Now this would be fine, if we were say, Brighton, but when you’re a club masquerading as a club that is allegedly trying to compete at the top of the table and win things, this is just plain unfair on the kid.
