Thought he was great. I know a lot of it was simply control the ball and retain possession but that is what our current wingers aren’t very good at, if he had 10-12 moments of just keeping the ball we’d have lost it 3-4 times and given away counter attacks with other wingers.
I don’t mean that as a major dig at Son, Werner or Johnson but even when looked at positively they are high risk players who try tricks and flicks because they want to force the issue and lose the ball a lot. We can’t have 2 wingers in the team on both sides who constantly lose the ball. Its to much work for our team defending.
Odobert simply being good at controlling the ball, pressing the defender and linking with players near him gives our attack much better balance and if he can consistently beat the defender then it could really make our attack better.
His first touch at times was excellent. Just killed the ball dead.
We all knew getting a winger of his profile would change the dynamic of our attack and I think we honestly saw that today.
Next step is get Solanke up top. Son on the left and Odobert replacing Johnson on the right.
