So there is talk of promotion and relegation in the premier league being scrapped due to pressure from foreign owners, and that with 4 more foreign owners this could be pushed through.

This would tear the backbone out of the English game, no team deserves protected premier league status, you are only as good as your last season.

The worry is, if there is all these owners (I can only see it increasing) how can it be stopped, and where will it end? what other fundamental rules will they change?

This I can imagine will lead to Franchising, if your from a city without a premier league team, and you want one, you have no choice but to simply buy one of the established prem teams and relocate.

However, if you look at pro Stratford people, then they would want this?

there argument is that it will help spurs moving to Stratford, and to not do it would be a bad business decision,

well this would also be a wise business decision, it would guarantee us a seat at the worlds top division.

its disgusting,

how on earth would you even go about trying to choose 20(?) teams that deserve to be in the league

Well for sure if you look at it from a purely business perspective.....

What a fucking crock of shit

This is mental. I can't believe there are even rumours something like this could ever happen.

i would fully support Tottenham rejecting it and moving into a lower division, i would hope most fans would want the same but looking at citeh and chelsk's reactions to buying leagues then i doubt it.

but then what are you playing for? if you cant get promoted but you win the league, its a kind of hollow glory....

football is getting bigger and bigger....but at the same time slowly dying

They might do a draft system or election (instead of relegation) every so often. Still a steaming pile of shite though.

I was shocked when I read this a little while ago. This is shockingly terrible news. As someone said above, no team deserves protected premier league status.

Calm down, the FA can over rule it if it ever got through

I presume if the FA don't approve the league wont have FIFA recognition or some such?

But what does this actually mean in principal? Do players have to be registered as playing for a recognised football association to play internationally?

I believe if this happened that I would have no option but to emigrate to Botswana and follow Chico dance and the boys and become a full time BMC supporter.

What Filth said.

This happens, football can go choke on its own girth.
Thing is, the EPL has spent the last few years practicing bending over and as soon it can fully achieve self administered fellatio, it will spend it's whole time sucking itself off. It is as inevitable as a man who 'works from home' finding his way around the best collections of free internet porn and you tube videos known to, well ,man.

The advent of money vs fans, media vs fans and footballs own self importance vs fans will lead to the creation of a european super league and FIFA / UEFA proving (as today with the release of court documents) that as long as the money comes rolling in (prefereably to their own pockets) they don't rightly give a fuck.

There are however many different ways of looking at it. First, you could say it's in the future I'll worry about it then, second, get angry about the inevitable but realise that you're not in a position to do anything because it is too late, or maybe thirdly try and organise and mobile people to unite to fight against it which will also ultimately lead to realisation that it is an exercise in futility, as the powers that be are better organised and funded, at the end of the day / season: Money + Media + FIFA > fans when it comes to exerting power.

Personally, I'm just going to accept that it's all going to shit and that Football is already so far fucked, that it has already gone past the point of no return and just enjoy what we have today.

White Hart Lane, the shirt, a couple of gems of players who every now and then will 'turn up', the odd cup run, flirtations with success and the coresponding flirtation with disaster.

I have often said that 'being a spurs fan is like a lesson in life', so why shouldn't the whole of football's demise not corespond with the proximity of Spurs being on the verge of success.

But I'm not going to knock anyone who cares enough to try and do more, no matter how futile I might perceive it to be.

If they're a spurs fan, as far as I'm concerned they've already made at least one decent decison in their lifetime.
