Completely different type of player with a different role. Gray has been more successful (particularly lately) in his own role but you’re comparing apples to oranges.
Because he's lightweight and offers no help in set pieces except delivering corners. He's not dominant enough attacker to offset his physical and defensive deficiencies.
What exactly do you think he brings to the team in big games like today?
No I am not- I'm comparing the value over replacement of using him as CAM instead of another CM. It's a perfectly reasonable comparison.

Xavi has been a major disappointment but at least there's the possibility it could come good which has happened a couple of times. I'd take that over a player that goes into positions that he can't receive the ball, all he does is exist FFS.

Its ok you don't agree. Palh-Bents is a horrific midfield- can't understand why you present that as some kind of example. Bents-Sarr idk- I probably rate Gray about the same as Sarr right now. I really like Sarr and find it hard to understand why he can't get more time on the pitch right now.
Gray has been fine- it's our entitled seniors bypassing him and Bergvall in open play constantly. Gray was far better than Benta and Xavi today- would you not agree?

We can play many configs of MF without resigning ourselves to the 2 least progressive examples of double-pivot you mentioned........ There's no reason why we (eg) can't play 433 with JP in the middle of Berg & Gray.
He 100000000% wasn't better than Bentancur today and I don't rate Bentancur. Its scary that you think this.

You're hopeless. Benta is crap- literally did two slow turns and passed a ball directly out of play. And you think that was better than Gray who no one can even remember making a definite mistake.
Well right now he’s at AFCON with Senegal.
In truth, I’m not sure what he brings other than high energy and a press. Doesn’t do anything badly but doesn’t really do anything terribly well either. Not sure where he fits into the midfield. Don’t think he’s good enough for a UCL club.
Well you are entitled to your opinion about Sarr of course.
