Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Very silly of him to post this. If you can help it, never let your opponents know where you're hurting. Now giving the opposition a reason to give him an extra kick or stomp.
Agree Macch
Amateur posting that..
Less oppo knows the better

They might indeed leave a wee bit more in the tackle targeting that area if poss,or as you say at corners”Sorry Wee Man never saw your wee paw there”
Squelch…….

Another player whose game is negatively affected from
  1. The absence of a quality passer of a CM: One that would regularly link him up with Romero among others while sparing him from having to drop this deep to get the ball.
  2. Players that cannot find him even on the occasions where he drops [extremely] deep and is wide open.

The sequence starts with a throw in.

The pass can certainly be made here: The angle is there + Simons is free enough from his defender to make the attempt worthwhile.

Fine, whatever.

How about passing him the ball so that he can exploit the dotted area, by releasing Udogie from the left after a quick turn with the ball for example ?

That's surely a simple lob pass to the dotted area there. The margin for error is massive.

Wait, there's more.

That's the infamous RKM sequence by the way.

By contrast;

This leads to a turnover as you can see; but that's not really the point here. Quickly delivering a forward pass when you actually spot one the way Romero does here, instead of pondering until the opportunity is no longer there, will lead to far better outcomes in the long run.

Am I convinced already that he has shown enough to assume confidently that there's a proper player in there, waiting to be unearthed? No.

Do external circumstances including but not exclusively the ones mentioned above hold him back noticeably? Yes.

Things is mate, he's making the fatal error of standing in the middle of the pitch wanting the ball

He should know we don't do that

If he really wanted the ball he would stand right up on the right touchline waiting for a hoof

In general under Frank we just don't look coached to progress the ball through the central midfield with one-twos, and other combinations. Hopefully it's something that can be improved upon, but doubtful if Frank persists playing Bentancur and Palhinha when both become available again...

Right now he can’t even get the simple passes right. Big decision to be made at the end of the season with him, I’m really struggling to see him as a PL player.

He was fine in the week, he was enjoying himself against Dortmund, weighting his passes perfectly, taking responsibility, doing what he should be doing so it's not an ability issue, more mentality and this is a wider issue for the squad, not just Xavi.

I don't think the players are playing for the manager anyway or they've dropped their standards for him as they know he's not going to be there for long.

No surprise to see all the worst people on this forum coming in to dig out a kid playing injured.

The lofted pass he put onto Dom's head is the kind of assist only he and Maddison can make in our entire squad. But yeah "he was hiding"
