Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

You can't write players like this off so quickly. It takes time to adapt to this league where you get no space. This league all teams will fight for the ball and try to bully you. He will adapt but needs time, maybe a season like Son needed.

Plus he needs better players around him and a better manager.

People just upset and scrambling around for someone to blame for our troubles

When really you've got your targets nicely lined up in the Lewis family, Lange, Frank and the Gooner

Xavi not been at his best, but defo not one of our top 5 problems.

The kid works hard, tries and genuinely cares, you can tell by how pissed off he is on the pitch.

He's earned more time.

No surprise to see all the worst people on this forum coming in to dig out a kid playing injured.

The lofted pass he put onto Dom's head is the kind of assist only he and Maddison can make in our entire squad. But yeah "he was hiding"
"Come to dig out a kid"

Geezer is about to turn 23 and is a professional football earning 200k pw who we spent 60 million quid on.

Imagine the state of our fanbase when we are butt hurt someone is criticising the performance of a player that is underperforming. Absolute fairy.

He’s a brave little fucker who always is willing to take the ball and put himself in the firing line. Easily our most fouled player because he’s willing g to try go by someone rather than play safe constantly. He’s not scared to get stuck in either. We definitely need more from a goalscoring and assist point of view but he’s not exactly surrounded by quality.
I like him ans think he’ll be a right good player for us.

1) 22 is very young for a footballer.

2) Hes playing injured so playing through the kind of pain that would likely have you lying in a faetal ball crying for your mummy.

3) even despite this he's playing better than pretty much anyone else in our team. Always showing, always fighting to win the ball back when he makes a mistake; hit the crossbar and put the best ball of the match on Dom's head who missed a sitter. The opposite of "hiding".

4) you seem to be under the mistaken impression that going after kids like Simons and Gray and calling people "fairies" makes you seem hard. It doesn't. You just come across as a particularly nasty piece of shit. Even if they were playing really badly your vitriol would be out of order. The fact that both are playing better than many of our older more experienced players just makes you look stupid as well as nasty.

We are all fucked off about the results. Deal with it better.

1) 22 (soon to be 23) is not a kid so quit trying to justify your false statement with another false statement.

2) you don't know the extent of his 'injury' and how much pain hes in so quit pretending to know. You also don't know me or anything about me so quit talking about my pain threshold. I'm willing to bet I've gone through more shit and more 'injuries' then you and/or Xavi but again that would be an assumption.

3) He played slightly better then he has previously and played well first half against Dortmund but if you think he "always shows for the ball" then you are utterly deluded. It all sounds good as you probably want some sort of online superfan award and you can pat yourself on the back but he has gone missing and misplaced 5 yard passes in countless games this season, countless.

4) "Going after kids" fuck me you're a sensitive soul. We are about to get relegated (yes I think that will happen) because we have a midfielder that starts that is in the 1% centile in countless stats compared to other similar midfielders and another AM that goes missing 8/10 times.

You just say they are playing well without a single thing to back it up, then you act like captain 'save a hoe' defending poor performances calling them "kids'. Do you want me to show you Grays stats this season??? He is literally the worst performing midfielder at pretty much everything but a couple of pointless stats IN THE LEAGUE. Why in your opinion is he playing well because I can show you 10 plus reasons why he absolutely isnt?

My opinion is that people like you who continuously try and find reasons to defend ineptness is one of the biggest issues we have as a fanbase. Probably gives the board enough reason to carry on spending on average "kids" for big money (fyi I think Simons can eventually come good and has positive traits but Gray is totally hopeless).

What a load of utter nonsense. You're just having a massive sulk because we're shit and you've decided to take it out on the lowest possible hanging fruit. Your accusations that Simons "hides" is demonstrably bullshit. There isn't a single player who shows more than him or is not afraid to make a mistake and, if he does, immediately tries to win it back. He is the very opposite of the thing you accuse him of. Laughable. He may or may not be "shit" but I've never seen him hide once in a Spurs shirt.

As for Gray - what kind of a nasty POS dedicates his life to digging out a 19 year old kid whose only crime is being forced to play in a midfield surrounded by utter shite when he should be a bench option or out on loan. You've just got yourself into a shit fight with other posters who talk Gray up and now you can't stop yourself hating on him despite the fact it makes you look like an utter prick.

You weren't like this before so can only assume it's our shit results that's turned you into this really unlikeable version of yourself. As I said earlier - we're all fucked off with the results. Deal with it better.

Firstly you having a hissy fit at being called a "fairy" stating it doesn't make me "hard" then proceeding to call me a "piece of shit" and "prick" is deliciously ironic.

Your arguments holds no weight. Aim it at people that call our players "cunts", "pricks", "charlatans" (which is easy to find in the Richi and Johnson threads) but critiquing performances is fair game no matter how young and I've never stepped the line to abuse on the actual person...just the footballer and his ability.

Your actual argument about Gray is all over the place. Firstly you're saying he is playing well and now your argument is about his age and how I constantly target him. Much like every other poster that actually defends his performances (which is pretty much just you and Richard Arlison Richard Arlison now) you don't dare engage when it's specifically about his actual performances and his stats (which is the worst in the league...I repeat the worst in the league). You both just use these throw away remarks "he's played well" then when the stats come to play it's totally ignored. "Yeh but but but" oh hush up.

Is Gray young? Yes he's young. is he playing well? Absolutely not. If your point was "yeh fair enough he's not playing well but he's young" that's one thing but both of you state he's playing well and I will always back my argument with stats to show that not only is he not playing well, he is literally one of the worst performing midfielders in the whole league.

Biggest disappointment is how bad his shooting has been. That's not a physical adaptation point.

I thought we were getting a really good finisher who could also score from distance but he has flopped massively in front of goal.

Pal, our build-up play is so laborious that whenever the kid has a shooting opportunity, there's minimum 10 or 12 players between ball and goal...including our own players who don't have the football IQ to get out the friggin way or make decoy runs to take defenders with them.

Deserved to score yesterday on that Odobert cutback but Burnley got lucky. Also had a very decent effort vs West Ham but their keeper pulled out a top save. Seem to recall another few examples but can't remember the exact games.

Has he been good enough? No. But is there definitely a context to it, and I don't just mean the manager? You bet.

Oddly enough when you call people who don't like kids being bullied "fairies" it does tend to make one rather indisposed to you. 🤷‍♂️ Nothing you've written since has given me any inclination to change my mind that, for whatever reason, you've suddenly gone from being a mildly acerbic poster to just being downright nasty.

I see you've stopped mentioning Xavi about whom you've been running around saying he "hides" which is so utterly preposterous an accusation (literally the only midfielder we have who DOESN'T "hide" - so far at least) it beggars belief. You aren't this stupid or unknowledgeable so there can only be another weird agenda at play.

As for Gray all I've ever said is he's progressing well for a kid his age and that he's not responsible for the price-tag he was bought for. Two of the best games we've had this season in term of metrics have come with him and Bergvall in CM. He was brave last year filling in at CB.

There's nothing at all in his appearances, or his character, to justify the hate you pile onto him nearly every match day whether he plays or not. Its quite bizarre. Especially when the senior players who should be leading the way consistently don't. Of all the players to dig out - you've gone for the lowest hanging fruit. Really very strange.

Simons is decent long term , but in a shit team with a shit manager whilst trying to adapt to the Prem is not easy . He will be very good , whether it’s with us is the only issue for me
I think you're right. He sees and attempts things that no one else does. The issue right now is that he isn't executing it anywhere nearly as consistently enough.

But with a bit of time to adjust in the right set up, with the right players to play off he'll be very good.
