Just as it looked like Pochettino was about to get back a rejuvenated and committed Danny Rose after a spell out on the sidelines, it appears that Rose may have already annoyed the manager yet again.

After Rose’s comments in August, where he criticised Spur’s transfer policy, there was a fair amount of healing that needed to take place. Such an outspoken and critical view of one’s employers was never going to go down well. Rose’s lack of foresight was astounding and left fans questioning how committed he was to the Spurs cause. Especially after saying he fancied a move up north before his career ended.

The Spurs hierarchy handled the situation exceptionally well. Rose may have isolated himself but the door was never shut on the Yorkshire-born player. Their reconciliatory approach resulted in Rose coming back into the first team fold with Pochettino giving the left-back a run out against Real Madrid in October.

Rose showed a fleeting moment of gratitude after his cameo appearance at the Bernabeu by thanking his manager for the opportunity and the fans for welcoming him back. He admitted to expecting a frosty reception but the Spurs travelling faithful let bygones be bygones and instead chanted his name in support.

Just a month after his playing return, which at one stage looked very much in doubt, Rose may have compromised his position at the club yet again. He was less than impressed with being left out of the squad to play Arsenal and when asked said he was “fuming” at the decision. Pochettino was not ambiguous when asked to respond to Rose’s comments and dismissed them, saying: “I don’t care because it is my decision and I need to take the best decision for the team.”

It defies belief that Rose would look to create any more division between himself and the Spurs hierarchy with his official apology from his comments in August still fresh. It is looking more and more like Rose’s frustration with the management at Spurs runs deeper than a once off ill-advised outburst. It may be wise to tread carefully as there has never been a better time to be part of the current Spurs course that looks to reach the heights of the Wembley arch.

Spurs recent trajectory as a club has turned them into one of the Premier League’s finest without Rose being an ever-present in the side. They currently occupy one of the Champions League spots after 13 games and should finish in the top four come the end of the season, with punters who are confident Pochettino’s men can carry on this form able to access a £30 free bet from SBT UK. Everything points to Spurs being on the up and up but will they stick with an increasingly outspoken Rose?

Regardless of how talented a player might be sooner or later, they will be moved on if they are constantly questioning the status quo. Rose may well get his wish with a move away from North London but he would leave with a severely dented reputation.
