Mauricio Pochettino has done a great job since arriving at Tottenham, converting the Londoners from a stuttering mid-table side into one of the top clubs in the Premier League. The Argentine coach has come narrowly close to winning the top-flight in the capital, but a series of final hurdle capitulations have seen them miss out in recent seasons.

With Manchester City having started this current campaign in ridiculously strong form under the guidance of former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola, a title win looks well beyond reach for Spurs and any of their other rivals come next May. But Tottenham are still on a decent run of form and possess seemingly world-class stars such as Harry Kane and Dele Alli in their ranks. Finishing in a Champions League place this term looks more than likely.

The Londoners are widely tipped to cement a top four position this season in the Premier League, having showcased consistent enough form during proceedings so far. Pochettino also has the aforementioned January transfer window available in order to bolster his ranks for the long campaign ahead and help achieve such an already likely feat.

So here are four potential signings could make in the coming months to further enhance their already impressive squad and increase their chances of finally securing some silverware success and gaining a top four position this current term.

Gareth Bale

The list of possible captures starts with quite a romantic link , more than a solid one for the coming months.  Gareth Bale became one of football’s biggest stars during his time at the club’s former home of White Hart Lane, with his spectacular goals and match-winning performances eventually seeing Real Madrid come calling.

Spanish giants Real Madrid made him then the world’s most expensive player of all time, with the Wales international wideman arriving at the Bernabeu for no less than a mammoth £100 million.

He’s believed to desire a switch back to the Premier League, with Manchester United the reported front-runners for his signature. But who else better than his former club Spurs to recommence his English football love affair?

Ross Barkley

Everton playmaker Ross Barkley has also long been tipped to depart Goodison Park with the England international midfielder struggling to fully live up to hype and expectations in blue anymore. But such stuttering form hasn’t detracted and potential suitors and Tottenham would seemingly be his most promising destination.

With the opportunity to possibly challenge for silverware, including the Premier League title, and European action on offer, Barkley is reportedly keen on arriving at the capital club and reportedly came close to completing a move in the last transfer window.

Mauricio Pochettino has been regarded as a big admirer of the playmaker’s abilities and this is a move that could easily come to fruition in the coming months if a suitable fee is agreed between both parties.

Wilfried Zaha

Spurs have long relied on impressive wingers to help them in their pursuit of success, but they are currently in need of a boost in personnel in the wide areas this season. Wilfried Zaha may have flopped at Man Utd, but his star showings for Crystal Palace have seen him become hot property once again on English soil.

The pacey Eagles attacker did put pen to paper on a new long-term deal during the course of last season, meaning he wouldn’t come cheap for Spurs. What’s more, Palace’s precarious position towards the bottom of the table means that selling their key players won’t be at the top of their to-do list anytime soon.

There’s also the fact he is classed as a homegrown player, having come through the English academy system. There’s money available and Pochettino needs new wingers, so it does make sense.

Andre Gomes

Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes arrived at the Nou Camp as a hot prospect and was seen to be the future of their central areas, with Spanish legend Xavi Hernandez having retired. But things haven’t exactly gone according to plan for the talented playmaker.

Spurs could potentially offer the Euro 2016 winning Portugal international a way out of his miserable spell at the Nou Camp, though, potentially even on a long-term loan spell. He has all the qualities needed to help lessen the burden on both Alli and Kane within their Tottenham ranks.

So watch this space, as Pochettino looks to add some further firepower to the current crop of Spurs stars and hopefully bolster their chances of securing some success during the remainder of this busy season.
