The five year project for Spurs has been a major success since the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino but will trophies need to come sooner rather than later and is that time this season?

There is no doubt that the Spurs have one of the most exciting, young and best squads in the Premier League but with players growing older and still improving will a lack of silverware mean sometime soon they might look elsewhere to achieve goals?

Tottenham had a hugely successful World Cup with club captain Hugo Lloris lifting the famous trophy after the final and England paid Kieran Trippier and Harry Kane being shining lights for England but can they transfer that winning mentality over to their club side, fans would always argue yes.

Looking at the squad there would be no clear place which needs strengthening; unless Toby Alderweireld should choose to leave. Lucas Moura will be an asset that cannot be underestimated this season and would come as little surprise if he would be a guaranteed starter come Christmas.

He has had a massive pre-season and has finally found his scoring boots too, netting twice in the comprehensive victory over Roma in the USA. His winning mentality that he has picked up from PSG is only one of many things that he will look to add to this vibrant Spurs side.

Moura himself knows exactly what must be done and he has made it clear that he chose Spurs for the project that comes with it. Speaking to ESPN, he said: “Tottenham are a very big club, big in structure. I’m impressed with this, and I’m happy to come here. I believe we can do a big season, win a trophy. That’s why I’m here, to win a trophy, because I believe in the team, the project. We have the capacity to make history here.”

The Brazilians omission to the bench in the second half on the season was just an indication of the depth of the squad in the attacking areas on the field. The form of Son, Kane, Erikson and Ali meant that there was no way to force for a starting birth.

Erik Lamela also returned from injury and has since signed a contract extension with the club, but he always divides opinion. There is no doubting the talent of the Argentine but his end productive sometimes isn’t there. He is also still young so there is still time and with Pochettino at the helm you get the feeling there is more chance that he will come good than be shipped off on loan in a future transfer window.

Another player with a point to prove would be Dele Ali. Despite scoring the winner for England against Sweden, he has a largely disappointing World Cup and was ineffective in many of the games. That has never been the case domestically for Spurs and will be looking to prove critics wrong again as his talent is unquestionably one of the best for the players in his age category.

Let’s not forget, in Harry Kane Spurs have the best number nine in the league and somebody who will be guaranteed to get 20+ goals again this season. With Kane, there is always a chance of a title fight. Betway currently make Harry Kane the odds on favourite to finish next season as top scorer in the top flight. Everyone knows, having a proven goal scorer normally means good things come the end of the season and usually in the form of a trophy. Betway are currently offering 16/1 for Spurs to win the Premier League, while they are also 9/4 to win any trophy.

You can also get 7/1 on Tottenham to win either the EFL Cup or the FA Cup, making them fourth favourites in both markets behind Manchester City, United and Liverpool. However, they are a higher price of 25/1 with Betway to win the Champions League- something Spurs are still yet to do despite being agonisingly unlucky against Juventus last season.

Along with the top scorer market, Betway also have weekly online betting long lists for betting on all football fixtures.
