The Premier League season has seen a further delay. With the set target of June 1st for football to return, teams will be wanting their players to keep on top of fitness and using the time to plan out how they’ll go forward when games restart.

That still leaves football fans stuck wondering what to do. Some will browse Twitter, Facebook and football news sites for the latest updates. Others will spend hours watching old highlights and football movies – an opportune time for the release of Sunderland Till I Die Series 2 on Netflix. But many will simply be taking to their consoles or checking the liveroulette.com website for hours of gaming action. After all, they say time flies when you’re having fun, right?

However, there will inevitably come a time when football returns. Looking forward to that moment, the postponement of the season could actually be great news for Spurs.

Kane returns for crucial games

The main bonus of the postponement of football for Spurs is that by the time the season returns, it’s expected that Harry Kane will be fit and ready to start playing again. The club captain has been out with a ruptured tendon in his hamstring since New Year’s Day and was expected to be out until the end of the season.

The further delay of the league’s restart, however, means that Kane’s return to fitness will be well before games are given the green light. His return to the squad will not only give them a goal-getting boost but a morale boost as well, which will surely prove a bonus for Spurs.

Regrouping

Despite finding good form for the first half of February, Spurs have let results slip as they progressed into March. With their last win coming at Villa Park in mid-February, the postponement of the season may have come at a rather beneficial time for the team.

The defeat to RB Leipzig in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 marked the start of a torrid time for José Mourinho’s side. With 1 draw and 4 losses since that game, the enforced break may give Spurs the chance they need to rethink their season.

While all team training has been cancelled due to social distancing, the side will hopefully use this opportunity to harness the power of communication between players and coaching staff. Using this time wisely could prove key to a successful end to the season for Spurs.

Son hopeful

Son Heung-min suffered a fractured arm during Spurs’ last win against Aston Villa in February and it was up in the air as to whether he would play again before the season’s end.

The extent of the postponement has reignited hopes that Son will be able to link up with fellow injury list occupier Harry Kane, as his return from Seoul marked a big step in his recovery – though it does mean he will be in strict isolation for at least 2 weeks.

Sum mer plans

This period of rest and recovery for a lot of teams will mean players can work on injuries and keep up their fitness, while club officials behind the scenes will be hard at work themselves.

There’s no doubt the Spurs’ board and José’s staff will be working together and in constant communication in order to get a head start on the transfer business that will be addressed in the summer.

With the season ending at a later date than usual, the shorter window will mean deals must be conducted quickly and efficiently. Hopefully, Spurs are using this opportunity and are putting plans into motion.
