Transfer Rumours In Premier League Football: What Is Next For The League? With the coronavirus outbreak changing football unlike what we have ever seen before, there is no surprise that the transfer window may be different this season too. The ongoing issues surrounding the outbreak could have an impact on the transfer spending this year, not only in the premier league, but other leagues too. For now, the transfer window is set to open on June 10th , but for how long is still unknown. The havoc caused by the global pandemic means that all sporting calendars have been put
on hold for now, with much uncertainties as to when they will resume or restart.

Despite this, the 2021 season is looking promising, with UK bookmakers offering the opportunity for people to place their bets. So, what is next for the premier league and what are the transfer rumours floating around?

There are some reports claiming that the transfer window will open in May, allowing teams to strengthen their squad to help with any problems caused by the virus outbreak. Other reports are suggesting that after talks with clubs, FIFA will keep the transfer window open for longer. This would be put in place in order to help football financially during these uncertain times. In fact, rumours have stated that the transfer window in 2020 could stay open longer than usual. This is because the spending on transfers is expected to fall at the end of the season and by leaving it open for longer it
should help teams to recover.

Tottenham Hotspur

Jose Mourinho is looking forward to building on the positives of his first season at Tottenham Hotspur when football resumes again. Rumours have it that he is to put a rush on the summer transfer market, by putting it as a priority at the top of his agenda. This is due to some departments in his squad requiring some attention.

Fans, players and other clubs will be watching Mourinho to see if he ensures that the team doesn’t miss out on qualifying.

Liverpool

For Liverpool, it has been rumoured that Sadio Mane could move to Real Madrid to continue his football career there. However, the club are apparently confident that he will stay long-term at Anfield instead. Fans will be keeping an eye on this rumour to see what the outcome will be.

Manchester United

Despite being at the club since 2016, Thomas Meunier’s contract is soon to expire in the summer and he has not been short of offers elsewhere, keeping uncertainties whether he will stay with Manchester United.

Thomas Meunier isn’t the only player fans will be watching during the transfer window, their midfielder, Paul Pogba, has shown that his priority remains to join Real Madrid when the window opens. The player has spent most of the season stuck on the sidelines for Manchester United due to his injury, but Real Madrid and Juventus have both continued to retain interest in the 27-year-old throughout.

The summer of 2021 will see the player out of contract with Manchester United, but they do have the option to extend this by a further year. This will be done if it seems as if the club will lose the player for free. Despite this, many sources have claimed that Pogba has made it clear that his wishes are to leave the club and move elsewhere. However, with rumours
travelling around at these uncertain times, it is still unknown what the player will do.

West Ham

Despite the player only joining Barcelona in February, it looks as if West Ham are ready to make move for £15m swoop. This has come as the team were left fighting relegation from the Premier League, leaving them needing a flagging attack. Along with Everton, West Ham have shown interest in the striker, with Barcelona looking keen to make a profit from the player. Featuring three times since he joined Barcelona and failing to score in any of the three occasions, Braithwaite still has a contract in
place with the club until the summer of 2024. Included in this contract is a £266 Million release clause.
