Højbjerg to escort Spurs through our Hart of darkness

In a nutshell, I guess it's winning something. That's the obsession as our fanbase aim to win accolades within the meme game online. Screw playing grand football, screw belonging and togetherness and that undeniable momentum

The summer has been hot and sweaty, well, for a few days here and there. The heatwave was followed by thunderstorms and rain and two Spurs signings. Yes, you heard that right. We have signed new blood in preparation for the new season that will consist of extreme fixture congestion thanks to them lot down the road winning the cup and us having to qualify for the Europa. Three games against farmers (hopefully not French farmers, they’re pretty decent).

I’m not going to lie. I’m not even ready for the 2021 season. Although I’m done with 2020. Done with the pandemic and VAR and the boring football and Liverpool being crowned champions. I mean, that was the reason footie came back right? Just for Sky and the media to fap over them, in front of empty stadiums and fireworks. The re-start was, ‘okay’ I guess. We beat Arsenal 2-1. It was worth the comeback just for that. But it was mostly weird exhibition style games and illustrated how awful sport is without the spectators.

Kyle Walker had it right. He got himself some personal spectators and even allowed them to participate in a bit of ball action. No idea where he shopped in the Manchester area but Kyle could have used Escort Reviews if he was still based in London. The saucy git.

That was smooth. As smooth as Tottenham’s social media PR announcing our new recruits. Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, the Danish midfielder will give us a bit of focused mettle in the middle. Spurs have gone with the multiple Tweets (literally dozens of them) to promote his arrival. Hopefully they’ll settle with a couple for our second signing; Joe Hart.

Joe Hart.

Is this…is this thing on?

Okay, so logistically, he frees up a place for Europe (thanks to being homegrown). He has bundles of experience and has actually won one of these ‘things’. You know. That metallic silver stuff that others perversely keep behind glass cabinets like voyeurs. He’s also 3rd in line for the goal-keeping sticks. So whether you believe (know) that Hart has been God awful for years, he’s hardly a player that will strengthen us for the fight ahead.

And what is the fight exactly?

In a nutshell, I guess it’s winning something. That’s the obsession as our fanbase aim to win accolades within the meme meta game online. Screw playing grand football, screw belonging and togetherness and that undeniable momentum that you are building towards something (perhaps, perhaps not) and the dreaming and believing that comes with it. Screw it. It’s about memes and bantering off the rival fans ’cause supporting a football club is defined by success and if you don’t have this ilk of success you don’t warrant existing.

Let’s sacrifice it all just to win a cup that wont matter much if Jose then moves on and we end up waiting for someone else to tidy up the mess he’s left and rebuild. Jose is here for the Amazon documentary and much like the jungle, he won’t mind the devastation as long as he can blame us if he fails.

Winning silverware is key for consolidation when you’re a team that is seeking sustained glory or the art of contending. Which we did under Poch and might have got away with one of those metallic things had Jose himself not out thought us in the League Cup final.

So, I guess, that’s the real sacrifice. Replacing Poch the fledgling with Old Man Jose – a coach that just might have enough clout to get us across the line.

Don’t fret. If the football remains boring, hopefully we’ll still be locked out of attending the games. Which means it will only takes seconds to scream abuse at the TV when Spurs lose and then change the channel. Or perhaps get on the blower to Kyle to ask how best to past time.

Gosh you are a depressed lot over here – it comes out in the writing…cheer up! It might never happen but it just might! I don’t think Levy would let Mourinho mess up the club with dodgy recruitment. If we don’t have a philosophy on the pitch then we certainly have one in the player recruitment department – that is, young, able to improve, and increasing in value (if not at least keeping the value we paid). Yes Mourinho may fall out with a player or two but it matters what about – sometimes he may well be the person in the right coming up against a spoilt, entitled, and/or conceited player. I’d back him if I were upstairs and this may actually be the case with Ndombele if he doesn’t straighten himself out (unlikely). He will leave and we will reinvest in players with the right mentality and desire to succeed. Even Poch was able to leave with a cloud over his head and a club supposedly in turmoil, so it happens. Barca are another case right now. It’s just that Mourinho can be and often is a direct and confrontational character (easily the bad guy – think Scarface). He seems happy at Spurs and knows the MO, let’s give him a chance. He is not strong enough to bring the club down if he fails or gets disgruntled. Levy has positioned the club well and is one of the best chairmen (if not the best) in the business. (Response inspired in part by @CliveTHBN)
