Jose Mourinho bingo: Is it coming to the end?

There have been many things that have happened in the world since Mourinho’s arrival at the club, behind closed doors games and a global pandemic for a start.

It’s fair to say that whether you like him or loathe him, Jose Mourinho is under pressure at present. He’s among the favourites to be the next Premier League manager to leave with the bookmakers and we’re starting to see the typical signs that come with almost every Mourinho departure.

There have been many things that have happened in the world since Mourinho’s arrival at the club, behind closed doors games and a global pandemic for a start. But we’ve also seen a huge rise in the likes of Tik Tok, Jose’s Instagram followers and the great game of bingo. So it only seems apt that we put together some of the key things that would appear on a Mourinho Bingo Card should this be his final few weeks or months in charge.

You can learn to play bingo here, but for those already in the know, these are the things we expect to be marking our cards off with in…

A Staff Fall Out

We’ve seen it at Real Madrid, Chelsea, and a number of other clubs and as soon as Mourinho publicly falls out with a member of staff or a raft of players it’s usually curtains for the Special One. He’s publicly fallen out with the likes of Sergio Ramos, Pepe and Cristiano Ronaldo in the past. At present there’s no sign of that and the strength in unity at Spurs could be what helps him out of a sticky run.

The Unkempt Look

He’s looked a little unkempt on a number of occasions during his Spurs reign and it’s usually a reflection on the results. Lockdown may have played a part this time round, but once he starts looking tired, unshaven and digging the tracksuit constantly, then a handsome payout package is only round the corner.

Speaking Out About Transfer Policy

It’s part of the Mourinho playbook and Jose loves a moan about a transfer. We’ve seen a little bit of a different side to him at Spurs. Often he’ll only play off-the-peg players, leaving many younger players out cold, but he’s been giving game time to a number of academy graduates at the club as well as investing in the likes of Joe Rodon.

It’s when he starts speaking out about recruitment, or a lack of when we know he’s frustrated and results aren’t quite going the way he wants. And Daniel Levy will not like that.

Leaving Stars On The Bench

That leads to making big moves to make a point, and could end up with a lengthy spell on the bench for a star player. That triggered the fall out at Real Madrid and at Manchester United, we saw a number of key men dropped in favour of a weakened team. We’re probably a little way off this at present, but with only half a season to go, it could be a tactic that makes its way into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium if pressure continues to grow.
