Moments in Tottenham’s history…

If you know...

Tottenham’s current team could shift on to be one of the best in our recent history, perhaps better the Poch’s peak side – if Conte stays and is backed. And if they actually win something. It doesn’t matter what people say about them, the football can at times be mesmerising – medal’s or no medals. Spurs relationship with silverware has been, let’s say, erratic. In the past; great. In the recent past; not so productive.

Seasoned gamblers love to input Premier League bets as they are exciting and one can win a lot of money, for example some of the best (and worst) moments in Tottenham’s history mentioned below were a top choice for one to bet on.

The defeat by the Wolves

Throughout December 2018, Tottenham won five in a row to close the gap on league leaders Manchester City and even take second place from the reigning champions.

At Wembley late in the month, a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers would have put them within one win of Liverpool. However, they collapsed in typical fashion, conceding three late goals and failing to finish in the top three.

7-1 at Newcastle – 1996

This is a classic, Gerry Francis managing a Tottenham team that included the likes of Sol Campbell and Teddy Sheringham to a six-goal, yes six-goal, humiliation at St. James’ Park.

However, it wasn’t the North Londoners’ largest-ever margin of defeat in a match, that came a year earlier in the UEFA Intertoto Cup against FC Koln.

A goal by David Ginola was a fantastic goal (1999)

Nobody from outside the United States has had as big an impact on Tottenham as David Ginola. And in the 1999 FA Cup quarter-finals, the Frenchman made sure that he was known as a legend at the club, too. In the game against Barnsley, the winger got the ball wide out on the left side from about 40 yards away. That all changed in a split second. Ginola managed to get past three people to get into the penalty area. He quickly cut past a fourth and last person, then curled a low shot past the goalkeeper to score one of Tottenham’s best goals ever. The finish was enough to get his team into the next round.

Ricky Villa’s Cup Final Winner (1981)

There were 100 FA Cup finals to be played in 1981 when Tottenham and Manchester City met. This was the 100th final. After the first game came to an end, the replay came up with a match that was good enough for the occasion. A goal by Ricky Villa gave Tottenham the lead, but Steve MacKenzie’s strike evened it out between Spurs and the home team, City. Spurs then trailed after giving away a penalty, but Garth Crooks scored with 20 minutes to go to make it 1-1. At even, Villa tried again to win the game. As Joe Corrigan came out to make the save for City, the Argentine dribbled his way through the City defence and then squeezed the ball past him. It is unquestionably one of the best goals in the competition’s history.
