Four Players Spurs Will Scout At The World Cup

The Premier League has hit the pause button temporarily, but it doesn’t mean the work stops. And the reason why there has been a temporary pause to the Premier League season is why clubs like Spurs are putting in the hours. It is because the World Cup is taking place in Qatar, which is the perfect place to do some scouting ahead of the upcoming transfer window. But just which players will Spurs be watching?

James Maddison

Now, we know what you’re thinking, James Maddison isn’t necessarily going to play much at the World Cup. However, there is a chance he will, which means he is a player that Spurs will undoubtedly be keeping an eye on. And the reason for this is quite interesting because you could argue that Spurs and England suffer from the same deficiency at times, and that’s creative genius centrally. Antonio Conte’s men are tipped for a top-four finish, but if they added the missing link, which could be Maddison-shaped, outright Premier League betting online odds could shift more in their favour.

Jose Sa

Jose Sa is another player at the World Cup in Qatar that won’t be a regular starter, but if he gets the chance to impress, he will be ready to shine. Spurs have been on the lookout for a replacement for club captain Hugo Lloris, who could go on to win another World Cup with France. But, at thirty-five years old, Father Time is catching up with the Frenchman, and his powers are waning. Since arriving in the Premier League last summer, Sa has really caught the eye for Wolves, and his talent could see him quickly make the step up to a club like Spurs.

Josko Gvardiol

Josko Gvardiol is a player who has been on Spurs’ radar for a while, and he’s currently starring for Croatia at the World Cup. At just twenty years old, the centre-back, who can also slot in at left-back, is very much the perfect fit for how Conte wants his team to play. The left-footer signed for RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2021 and is already a regular in their first team. The only natural drawback could be that Gvardiol puts himself on the radar of more of Europe’s top clubs, driving the price up, so Spurs would either have to go big or go home.

Denzel Dumfries

Spurs are a team stacked with right wingbacks. They have Emerson Royal, Matt Doherty and Djed Spence on their books. But it’s fair to say that none of them seem to do the business for Conte and deliver any sort of consistency. Over the next two transfer windows, it could be a position where Spurs look to adjust the personnel, and Dutchman Denzel Dumfries fits the bill perfectly. The Inter player has the energy and pace to burn and is always effective down the right. He’s also proven in the Champions League and at international level for the Netherlands. And, at twenty-six, it’s a no-brainer.
