Should Spurs Sell Son in the Summer?
Son Heung-min is one of Tottenham Hotspur’s best-ever forwards. However, over the past few months, he hasn’t been performing as well as he should.
Spurs are currently in the final 16 stage of the UEFA Champions League and in fifth position in the Premier League. The question being asked here is, should Spurs sell Son in the upcoming summer transfer window?
Who is Son Heung-min?
Son Heung-min is a 30-year-old footballer who currently plays for English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur. The right-footed forward was born in Chuncheon, South Korea, in July 1992, and he wears the number 7 shirt.
He made his senior career debut for Bundesliga 2 side Hamburger SV in 2010, where he scored 20 goals in 73 games. Between 2013-2015, he played 62 games for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 21 goals in 62 matches.
Since August 2015, he has played for Tottenham Hotspur after joining the North London side for a reported fee of €30 million (£22 million). Throughout his time at Spurs, he has scored 35 goals in 108 appearances.
His performances this season have been cause for concern. He would usually appear in Golden Boot races alongside Kane, Salah, and other lethal finishers. However, if you were to take a look at football betting markets, you’d soon see he’s not even in with a modicum of a chance. He’s had a considerable drop off in both creative and goal-scoring figures, causing many Spurs to begin to worry whether he’s on the start of a decline.
If Spurs get rid of Son, which club will he most likely go to?
In recent months, several top-flight European football clubs have shown an interest in the possibility of signing Son. He seems to be spending more time on the bench lately, so this could mean that the Spurs are gearing up to get rid of him.
To find out which club Son could potentially move to this summer, the best thing to do would be to compare the odds from various trusted sports betting sites, such as DAZN. For example, here are the European teams the Son is most likely to join:
- The odds-on favourite team at the time of writing is for Son to join Real Madrid. He is currently priced at 4/1 in UK fractional odds, which means 400 when converted into American/moneyline odds, and 5.00 when converted into European decimal odds. It also means that there is a 20% implied probability rate of him joining Los Blancos (Real Madrid)
- Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) – For him to join this Ligue 1 side, you are looking at odds of around 8/1 (800, or 9.00), with an 11.11% chance of joining
- Bayern Munich – For him to join this Bundesliga side, you’re looking at odds of around 10/1 (1000, or 11.00), with a 9.10% chance of joining
- Liverpool – For him to join this Premier League side, you’re looking at odds of around 14/1 (1400, or 15.00), with only a 6.70% chance of joining
- Manchester City – For him to join this Premier League side, you’re looking at odds of around 16.1 (1600, or 17.00), with only a 5.90% chance of joining
Final note
Don’t forget that no bet is guaranteed, no matter how certain the odds mentioned above may seem. The best thing to do before placing a bet on where Son might end up would be to research as much as possible and stay up to date with the latest transfer rumours and news.
