Following a 2025 that was plagued by mixed results for Tottenham Hotspur, consistency will be the buzzword once again for Spurs as they hope for better things in 2026.

Pulling off some big one-off results last year and early this season, this group of players have shown what they are capable of, but it’s up to them and the management team to deliver those performances often enough so that Spurs can challenge for the European places this term.

Inconsistency Hurting Lilywhites

With seven wins, six draws and seven defeats in their first 20 league games of the 2025/26 season, it’s fair to say it has been a mixed bag for the Lilywhites heading into the new year. Spurs, who are evens with a football bet to finish in the top half of the table this term, started the Premier League campaign positively. The north London outfit, who are 17/2 in the football tips to land a top-six finish this term, picked up three wins in their opening four league games as they hit the ground running. However, inconsistency soon kicked in for Thomas Frank’s side and Spurs have been looking to rediscover more of that early-season form since.

Injuries have certainly not helped Tottenham’s cause and the loss of key players has had a significant impact on results. Losing playmaker James Maddison to a serious knee injury was a hammer blow, while injuries to the likes of Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke have also taken their toll. While Frank will be eager not to use injuries as an excuse for the lack of consistency in recent months, the Danish tactician can only do so much with the players he has available to him.

Brighter Times Could Be Around the Corner

While it has been a frustrating first half of the Premier League campaign, there might well be better things to come from Spurs in the coming months. While no date has been put on Kulusevski’s return from a patella injury, it’s hoped the Swede is nearing a return to the field. England forward Solanke is also edging towards a comeback from his ankle issue and he too will add much-needed firepower in the final third for the Lilywhites.

Tottenham will look to address their consistency in the Premier League, but they can also look forward to the challenges ahead in the UEFA Champions League. While their domestic form might have suffered, Spurs’ results in Europe have been largely positive, as they find themselves firmly in contention to reach the Champions League knockout stages. Picking up points in Europe while missing key figures should be seen as a significant positive, especially with some of those stars set to make a return in the coming weeks and months.

It certainly has been a season of ups and downs for Spurs this season but, with key players hopefully putting their injury woes behind them and exciting games to look forward to in Europe, there is plenty of room for optimism as the club settles into 2026.
