We are on the cusp of an exiting end of season surge and it starts this Sunday against the old rival from Plumstead, the dirge of Woolwich…them lot down the road. The unmentionables.

It’s a difficult game to predict. They are playing decent football, but nothing spectacular in terms of quality and volume. Much like us, they have been inconsistent and at times fairly poor. But they appear to have players in form – much like we do. And of course, it’s a game where they will play out of their skin to beat us because that’s where they are at as a team right now. Benchmarking themselves against our own failures this season (in terms of league performances).

This years has been a continuation of last on the pitch. It’s been mostly indifferent. It would be hard to list a Top 10 ‘Players’ from both sides that have produced the goods consistently. Aside from perhaps Kane and Son. Finding the best players is a challenge but not so if you wish to find the best betting site of 2021.

It’s not the be all and end all of the season. Winning or losing will mean little as Spurs focus on the League Cup final and also Europa. Arsenal will do the same for the latter too. This game is purely for the gloat. The banter. The chance to state ‘North London is…’. To be honest, the mighty have fallen. It’s a shame this isn’t between two competitive sides playing to capacity. What we have instead is two clubs trying to salvage something out of the season and bragging rights is up for grabs here.

In the first encounter in the league, Spurs gave Arsenal all of the ball and slapped them brilliantly twice to win 2-0. This time, you wonder if Spurs plan to hold back and contain or instead push forward and take the game to the hosts. I would accept the former here

The form of Gareth Bale, Son and Harry Kane demands this to happen. It would be daft not to attack, on the front foot and take the game to them. Two teams that aren’t at their very best, slugging it out.

Predication? We are both better in attack than in defence but I think Spurs shade the defence more in terms of shape and application, so we’ll edge this one out. And if we hurt them early, we’ll make them suffer.

The alternative isn’t something I wish to entertain.
