There were golden boot candidates from several teams that included Liverpool, Tottenham, Everton, Leeds, and Manchester United. Over the years, 20 goals are a good number to land you the coveted EPL top striker prize. Here are last years number one scorers in Premier League.
Harry Kane
The Tottenham Hotspur striker emerged winner with 23 goals. He had to wait until the last day of the season to snatch a winner over his close rival, Mohamed Salah, in a game against former champions Leicester. The England international finished marginally ahead of Egyptian goal machine, Salah. Harry Edward Kane is a 28-year-old England captain with a good record in goal scoring and linkup play. Born in Walthamstow, London, England, the hot striker started his football at Ridgeway Rovers. He had a short spell at Arsenal before returning to Ridgeway Rovers. In 2004, Kane moved to Watford for a short period then switched to his current club, Tottenham.
Mohamed Salah

However, the Egyptian football king seems to be on the verge of scooping the award in the current season despite interruption from the African Cup of Nations. The Liverpool striker and Egypt’s captain are known for his speed, dribbling, and clinical finishes. Mo Salah was born in Nagrig, Basyoun, Egypt, and has played for Roma, Al Mokawloon, Chelsea, Basel, Ittihad Basyoun, Othmason Tanta, and Fiorentina. The European champion has more than 45 goals for his country.
Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United had a super midfielder last season in Bruno Fernandes. The 27-year-old Portuguese was born in Maia, Portugal. Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes, was the third-best goal scorer last season. This great talent started football at Infesta, then moved to Boavista. He completed his youth journey at Novara after a loan spell at Pasteleira. His senior career started at Novara then joined Udinese, Sampdoria, then Sporting CP. Manchester United came calling in 2020.
Son Heung-min and Patrick Bamford
As you list last years number one scorers in Premier League, Son Heung-min and Patrick Bamford tied at number four. Each of them scored 17 goals. Tottenham’s Son Heung-min is the first Asian player to net 50 plus English Premier League goals. The South Korean professional also captains his national team and was among the 2019 Ballon d’Or nominees. The 29-year-old was born in Chuncheon, South Korea. He started playing at Yukminkwan Middle Schoo.
On the other hand, Patrick James Bamford helped Leeds United have a season to remember. His 17 goals earned him a slot among the best English scorers. The 28-year-old was born in Grantham, England. He started his career at Nottingham Forest before moving to Chelsea. He had many loan spells while at Stamford Bridge before switching to Middlesbrough then Leeds United. Before committing to England, he represented the Republic of Ireland as a U18.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
English Dominic Nathaniel Calvert-Lewin was a big test to mark last season. He was ranked sixth with 16 goals. The 24-year-old Everton striker was born in Sheffield, England. He started his football at Sheffield United, where he had two loan spells. He secured a move to Everton in 2016.
Jamie Vardy
Jamie Richard Vardy is a former EPL champion and a golden boot winner. The striker has continued to defy age and keep scoring. The 34-year-old managed 15 goals despite being over 30. He is still a reliable scorer at Leicester City.
Ollie Watkins
Aston Villa had Oliver George Arthur Watkins on this list. Watkins was born in Newton Abbot, England and he managed 14 goals. The England international started his football journey at Exeter City. He had a loan move to Weston-super-Mare, then joined Brentford. He moved to Aston Villa in 2020.
Alexandre Lacazette and Ilkay Gundogan
Alexandre Lacazette is a 30-year-old French footballer. He managed 13 goals leading the charts at Arsenal as Pierre-Emerick Emiliano François Aubameyang disappointed Arsenal hopefuls. He was born in Lyon, France, and started playing at ELCS Lyon.
The last name on the top ten EPL scorers is Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan. The German midfielder was a reliable piece in the middle of City’s block. The 31-year-old had a memorable season.
