Kane reaching for the heavens

Not one who likes being bested, Harry Kane looks on course for an impressive campaign as this season’s Premier League boasts some of the world’s best strikers.

After some monumental spending from Tottenham’s rivals over the summer transfer window, Kane will be looking to prove the point that he’s still one of the best in the business.

A Strong Start for Kane

Having endured droughts in front of goal last season, it will be a welcome sight for manager Antonio Conte, the Spurs supporters and Kane himself to see the ball hitting the back of the net early in the campaign. Tottenham, who are 14/1 in a bet on Premier League title winners, have made a positive start to the season with 11 points from their first five games. In many Premier League tips, Spurs are expected to challenge for a top-four finish and are even outsiders for the title. Kane’s four Premier League goals in those first five outings have been an impressive start for the England skipper in a World Cup year.

It was something of a surprise to see Kane fail to score in a 4-1 demolition of Southampton in their opening game of the Premier League season but since then, the 29-year-old has not really looked back. A dramatic late equaliser against Chelsea was followed by a winner over Wolves and a brace in a victory on the road at Nottingham Forest. After so many summers of speculation regarding his Tottenham future, this summer window was a relatively quiet one for Kane. From the early signs, it looks like the media attention elsewhere and Kane’s settled future in North London has done him good.

Standards on the Rise

When it comes to strikers, the Premier League boasts many of the best in the world. Kane of course can count himself in that number and seeing other strikers also make positive starts to the season will come as added motivation. Gabriel Jesus has made a strong start at the Emirates, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be looking to get among the goals after his return to London with Chelsea. Not forgetting a certain Norwegian who has done alright on his start at Manchester City, the battle for the Premier League’s Golden Boot this season looks set to be a fierce one.

Kane’s competitive spirit, which has taken him to his current high standing in the game, will mean he won’t want to be bested by any other striker in the Premier League. The Three Lions talisman, who has been linked with signing a new deal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, looks to be building up some good club form ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Of course, Conte won’t be concerned about England’s fortunes this winter but will be pleased to see his star striker is meeting the challenge of competing with Premier League’s top forwards head-on.
