I was worried about the Newcastle players playing out of their skins in the hope to get noticed for a move in the summer, I hadn't thought of a poisonous atmosphere. Get an early goal and it should be job done.

The more I think about it, the more relieved I am that it's NOT on TV...
Newcastle are a bit like Liverpool in the respect that they like a bit of attention... they're both a pair of 'drama queens' and would thrive on the drama of ruining our chances of 2nd with a nonsensical meaningless win to give their fans hope that they'll 'do a Leicster' the season after next...

...as it is, this one will be tucked away at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon... without the prying eyes of live TV baying for us to slip up, and repeating repeating REPEATING in painful S... L. .. O. .. W. .. M... O. .. T... I. .O. ... N. .. the expression on our players and fans' faces IF it all goes tits up. No ta!

This takes a MASSIVE AMOUNT of pressure OFF us now... we can do our thing on the day, earn the point(s) we need and look forward to a glorious summer!

Think positive.

I'd rather just enjoy the highlights!
To be honest Newcastle performance on the telly versus regular fixtures
Is another damming statistic of a full of wankers squad. I am delighted it's not on the box.

Haven't missed a match on my stream box, although the last 3 Monday's have been like pulling teeth, but hopefully this won't be so stressful.
The players might not have our objective when topping Woolwich, but let's pray they fulfill our wishes COYS

This is so Spurs. We have been tremendous for most of the season, and now we are shitting ourselves about getting a single point away from home against a properly shit team who are already relegated and whose fans will likely be seeing the event as an opportunity to turn on their own players and directors. And yet the shitting ourselves is not without reason.

Part of me has to laugh.

(Though I will be far from laughter should we fuck it up.)

I’ve kinda accepted that we will finish 3rd. For months and months I’ve been warning fellow Spurs supporters about how close the Woolwich are to catching us and yet I was ridiculed for worrying more about them and not about winning the league. I knew we’d be in this situation come final game of the season, only I envisaged Newcastle needing a win to escape relegation.

All we need is a point and if we achieve this then I will be deliriously happy. I’ve waited so long for Spurs to finish above the Woolwich. Some will say that for me, finishing above them has been more of a priority than anything else that we could achieve. If we do finish 2nd then this will send such a powerful signal to our rivals. I honestly think it could shift the balance of power in London. For too long, no matter how close our finishing positions have been, the fact that Woolwich have always been able to finish above us has given them then sense of indomitability over us. If we do finish 2nd then it will really hammer home to them that they can no longer expect, no rely on finishing above us. The seeds of doubt will be sown.

I just know that in any situation where we are heavily favoured to beat a team inferior to us, but to do so in a pressurising situation, we make it so difficult for ourselves. Newcastle are down so they have absolutely nothing to play for. Yet we often see teams who have had relegation confirmed perform with a sense of freedom and liberation where they no longer feel inhibited by the impending doom of relegation.

It has been a wonderful, wonderful season. I am so happy with our efforts and we should all be proud of the club no matter what the score is on Sunday. But please Spurs, just go out and win and claim 2nd spot. We have worked so hard to be there. Anything else now would seem like an anti-climax.

100% agree. A few months ago just after we hammered Stoke, I would have said 4 or 5 nil to Spurs. Now without Alli, Dembele and a few of their heads going, it is scary stuff to get a fucking point.

I find 2nd place, the position more relevant than finishing above the scum. Never thought I'd write that. The reason is Woolwich haven't finished as high as 2nd since 04/05 season that's 11 years.

Hopefully Poch signing his new contract will give everyone a boost and cut out any uncertainty there may have been around the place.
2-0 Spurs, we end the season on a high.

I was the same as you until I discovered SportsMania. Whilst it's a subscription service, IMO it's well worth it!
