Match Chelsea scum away. Battle of the bridge 2: revenge of the yids

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

They are full of confidence and flying for good reason - we will have to play with massive discipline and confidence in our own ability to play as a team.
This is a huge test of Pochettino's managerial pedigree and motivational skills.
We have the squad to hold them, but not sure if we have the firing guns to shoot them down. I would play Janssen as his bruising style is built to unsettle the likes of Cahill and Luiz - leaving Scraps for Kane to feed off.

Playing 2 up front has never worked and Jansen has been very poor so far , never actually looking
like he will score . I would give Dembele more licence to get forward . Wan Kenyan bloke can hold , we don't need 2 .also to play high tempo , press like madman ( not half heartedly like lately) destroy their comfort zone ,
and get players to get in the box .
Bobs your uncle , 1 chavs , 2 cocks .

Cahill and Luiz are flaky central defenders with Beckenbauer delusions and I stand by my assertion that Janssen would be their worst nightmare to play against. I have no expectations of the lad scoring but leaving a trail of destruction that Kane can feed off.

Kane and Janssen are just a bit to similar - albeit Janssen is playing like Kane (but worse) when he's off form and looking for the ball in wide areas.

I think we will play two upfront, but it will be Kane and Son.

This game really couldn't come at a worse time; we're playing one of the few very very good teams who don't have Europe + although our injury list isn't extensive, we've lost players at the absolute worst times...Ben Davies for example.

There is no way we should be looking to go 2 up top in this one. Janssen doesn't seem to offer any qualities that Harry doesn't currently possess. I would have loved a faster more mobile centre forward who could not only deputize for Harry, but also compliment him. Janssen may well turn out to be a good player..but I don't see a partnership.

The weakness of a 3:5:3 is in wide areas, because you've got the wing-backs covering 2 positions there's huge potential for a 2 against one...it's a real shame we're missing Rose for this one. I'd give Dembele a break, rarely plays 3 games a week, i'd also give GKN a start and see if he and Son and get in behind their fullbacks. I'd like to see both of them playing very high up the pitch and the midfield 3 to show the same pressure and dynamisim they displayed against City.

-----------Lloris-----------
Waker--Dier--Wimmer--Vert
---------Wanyama-----
---Eriksen----Dele--
GKN-----Kane------Son

BTW what's KWP like at left back?

I totally agree with Poch when he says in that press conference that we Must make Wembley our home and stop using it as an excuse.
When the fixture list came out the Stamford Bridge fixture was the first I looked for. I was very disappointed that it came after a CL match and the injuries have made the situation worse.
I can remember going to the Bridge and seeing us win in the 1970's but this dismal run of not winning there is a disgrace. I thought our best chance of winning was last season when we were playing well and they were not. It did not happen and there were many times over the years when we have been unlucky in this fixture.
The following stat does not help either.
Most 90th-minute goals in the Premier League v same opponent:

  • Woolwich v Aston Villa (10 times)
  • Chelsea v Tottenham (10 times)
  • Woolwich v Leicester (9 times)
  • Chelsea v Wigan (9 times)
  • Liverpool v Woolwich (9 times)
10 goals at the last minute. Whilst we crow about doing it to the spammers, we are on the receiving end here.
Chelsea are rested, playing well and will be up for taking our unbeaten record away. Sounds horrible.
Be glad when this match is over as cannot see anything good coming out of it and just hope no injuries or cards (Jan is on 4 yellows) weakening us for future matches.
Only glimmer of hope is that we had a much longer non winning run at Anfield up to the early 1970's and when the win came it was 'out of the blue'. I think I would be in shock if we win but a very very happy shock.

I think it was longer than that.... we won there around '84/'85 (1-0; Crooks, if memory serves) and that was the first time since The Titanic went down!

On another note... just looked up that "Nothing Compares 2U" was #1 the last time we won at The Bridge...
That actually feels reassuringly recent...
I was expecting it to be Elvis or Bill Haley & The Comets!!

Getting that buzz now. Fucking COYS!

A little reality though, if we lose, it is not the end of the world.

Our next 6 fixtures looks like this:

Swansea City
Man U
Hull
Burnley
Soton
Watford

All very winnable and Xmas is always a good place to get on a roll.

That said, 2-1 Spurs. Harry Kane to buttfuck the life out of David Luiz.

The blue scum of London. A club who celebrated a draw, celebrated so hard in fact they genuinely thought they won the game, still do. A club who chanted the name of the Club that took their title off them, the worse defence of a title in the history of the game. When their chips were down, their true colours were exposed as they abused and abandoned their own club to support another.

What caused them to do this? What made them turn on their own? We did. We broke them, we caused them to turn their backs, to celebrate with another team, a team that was shitting on them in the process. The thought of us winning the title pushed them over the edge, they cracked. Never be like them.

Up The Spurs.

We'll absolutely batter them. How many of their players would get into our team when fully fit? Maybe Hazard that's about it. I don't understand the arse-clenching on here.

I fancy our defense to keep them at bay. They only attack with 3 players & are utterly reliant on Hazard for creativity since they're playing Kante/Matic in midfield. I also think Kane will fancy his chances against Cahill & Luiz, they haven't faced a striker of his calibre yet & they always have a mistake in them.

Yes, they are on form (but so were City when we beat them, and beat the well)

Yes, the 26 years thing is dragging on a bit, but remember, 'The curse' of beating them at all was actually lifted 10 years ago this month (5th November 2006) fucking hell 10 years ago!

...and to be fair, it's the fans who have had to endure the 26 year thing anyway...
None of our players have experienced every one of those games, (fucking hell, most of the team wasn't even alive when we last won there... now that's made me depressed!!)
As far as most of our squad is concerned, they've at least managed to be part of a club who has beaten them a few times in the last few years (albeit at home!!)

My main concern, is that mentally (and Poch has alluded to it this week) are we good enough to compete?
We totally lost our shit there last year, after being 2-0 up... I don't want that playing on the players minds... 'cos otherwise, how many do we have to score to actually kill them off? I for one won't be able to relax until at least the 6th or 7th go in... (for us, of course, Janssen double hat-trick anyone?)

It's an'orrible fixture... always has been, even when we're winning it's still an 'orrible fixture.

But one that we HAVE to win there sooner or later... may as well be tomorrow (though i've been saying that for over 25 years now... the record is beyond scratched!

I wish every Chelsea could read this. Post of the century.

You make a good point.....most of their fans wanted a new squad 6 weeks ago

So no Rose, Davies, Alderweireld and Lamela.

---------------------Lloris-----------------------
----Dier------Wimmer----Vertonghen--
Trippier------------------------------Walker-
-----------Wanyama---Dembele-------
------------------------Alli---------------------
------------------Son----Kane--------------

Subs: Vorm, CCV, Winks, N'kodou, Sissoko, Eriksen, Janssen
Changed my mind. Would go with Eriksen in the number 10 role and Alli partnering Kane up top (son will be on the bench).

Costa, Hazard, Kante, and possibly Willian and Pedro on current form.
