Mate in this market that ain't a bad deal, he created more chances than any other player in Europe's top 5 leagues for an U23 player (I believe Thomas Lemar was second), he is Prem proven, English, young and once we have him on a 4-5 year deal will be worth a lot more than 25 mil.
He can play deep, behind the striker and left and right. Even if he doesn't break our first 11 he gives us actual depth, everyone on this forum keeps saying our first 11 is great but we have no cover, well now we have a player who can cover multiple attacking positions.
This is no way comparable to Sissoko.
Not saying it is the same as Sissoko. I just think Barkley is flawed and hugely overrated. It's true the price could be worse though, given the market.

We have a gap in our squad.
We've tried to fill it with Sissoko, Njie and Nkoudou. Now we're trying to fill it with Barkley.
Whatever you think about the fee, Barkley is superior to all of the fillers we've tried in the past. This represents progress in the squad if it goes through.

That line up of attackers would literally be the 2nd best front line in the Prem (Behind City, who are ridiculously OTT)

Exactly, unless we are willing to splash £60 mil plus it's hard to get a guaranteed player and we don't pay the wages anyway.
I have watched Barkley play some top midfield players off the park, he is quick, strong, aggressive, can use both feet and creative, he sometimes like the way Dembele used to overplays a bit and goes wild with unrealistic shots. That's something that can be coached, he needs his edges smoothed, but unlike Sissoko is a real out and out footballer.
I always found it funny out top targets where Zaha and Barkley who have both recently done good things but were dismissed by a load on here. Do people remember how shit Rose was under AVB or how Dembele used to slow our game to standstill sometimes. we can't afford a made footballer, we have to work with rough diamonds.
I most want an explosive attacking player this summer, ideally someone like Berardeschi but we have fuck all chance with the money we spend.
