I think Woolwich are no where near top four level - as proven last season. Haven't improved on their defence, don't sort of know what system they're going for and have signed France's fourth choice striker to try and replace France's first choice striker.

I'd say that leaves five teams for the top four - Liverpool are STILL an unknown quantity. They showed they struggle against lower teams and we won't know until the season starts whether that's an improvement. City and United are spending an absolute fortune and Chelsea will now have European football to contend with.

The only negative impact 2017/2018 could have is the fact we're at Wembley and our record there isn't great and NOT the lack of signings.
Signed a left-back in Kolasinac and Lacazette is definitely an upgrade on Giroud

Desperately clinging onto Ozil like he's not just a German Walcott.

I think, by now, they expected that contingent of Ox, Gibbs, Walcott and whoever else it was, to have become their "(bought) Class of '92". In reality, they hope and hope until one day they realise their prospects are cracking on a bit.

I don't even know what will happen to them. Let's be honest, they'll need to do what we're doing - the lot of them. No one needs to sell any more, and all of a sudden the switch will flick and people will say "haha you have to sign people because your youth team is shit", and promoting will be the new 'transfer record'.

You'd surely think City's sheiks would be saying "Why did we spent the time and money on the Etihad campus if we're just going to buy everyone?"
Yes its all a bit of a mess. Ozil is very overrated & is wanting a huge salary.
I highly rate sanchez but he should be in the CL & at a better team.

You are right about their prospects not developing in to what they were hoping.
I'd add wilshere, jenkinson & chambers who cost 15m to that list.
Wenger's lost that young talent spotting skill he had at one time.
So they have to buy, & as you say no one is desperate to sell these days.
Its a mess. I don't even know if wenger staying was good or bad for them.

Let's be honest, we need to spend as much as the likes of City, Chelsea and United to be successful, no way around it
