Haha, why would you be very happy with a player who stank the place out at right wing playing even further out of position at right back?
Because he didn't stink the place out he performed inconsistently usually when thrown on as a sub or asked to start in games we were playing a weakened team in and this exposes the flaws in the recent idea that you have to have two players in every position of relatively equal caliber. It's very rare that you get squad players with the ability and willingness to sit on the bench for extended periods of time and then perform to a high level whenever required. Solskjaer was one of the most famous examples but he is the exception rather than the rule. The reason why people think we have a great first XI and poor back-uo is a lot down to the fact that our back-uo doesn't get used often. Janssen was a good player in Holland but how is he supposed to get in the grove in short appearances without an extended run in the side. The only positions we properly rotate are our wing-backs. It's not just at our club this happens. What if Messi and Suarez got injured, Barcelona suddenly look a lot less formidable.
Sissoko as a wing-back is based on a couple of conversations I've had with a family member who works as a coach for NUFC who has thought that was a position he would be suited to and it was where he played successfully for France at the Euros.
