"Walt" is a common phrase beloved within the U.K. Special Forces community for a non badged soldier who is a fantasist. Derived from the character Walter Mitty.
But I suspectWalt knows that. From his time with the SAS, before he became an ITK god.
I've always known a Walter Mitty (prior to the popularisation of the film) to a be a bullshitter who pretends they've been in the Army and goes round making up stories to support it.
One lad in my social circle when I was younger (teens) was the only one of us not to sign up, but he'd be telling everyone (on nights out) he'd been to Iraq. We'd get in a taxi (without him) and the driver would be like "Is your mate back from Afghanistan yet? Last time I saw him he said he was going out there as a sniper". Bellend.
