There isn't a pattern, so no reason to judge it as one. What makes this year different is that this year we have solid confirmation that we're looking to bring in a few players with just a few days left.

Meant last week of transfers. Promises were much higher than those three. And Im not a big fan of these phrases, but Isco could possibly have won us the title last year. He is that kind of player and now its too late. Zidane knows what he has in him.

Solid conformation? What if Barkley cant pass his medical and Aurier doesnt receive work permit? Just because Rabiot stated in a dance video that he is going Tottenham and Sissokos live session? Thats not conformation. Nice to have contracts lined up for them, but I dont see many reliable source reporting about incomings. And as of now, we have a bit more than just two days left. Im pissed off.
 
Did Everton officially state that Barkley has a grade 3 year and will be out for 3 months?
I don't think they have said anything at all about the extent of the injury or length of time expected to recover.
It's been the papers.

I meant confirmation that we're looking to bring players in (which hasn't really been the case before).

Aurier will get a WP, no issues at all. It's been a Bank Holiday in England, so tomorrow will be the earliest for Aurier annoucement anyway (as government offices aren't open until tomorrow). Barkley too won't be an issue.

Everything else is just the media trying to make excitement where there isn't any.

You can't say 2016 was a bad year, given Sissoko has only been given 1 season to settle in and looked quite good when he came on the other day. Could easily be like Son and turn it up several notches this season.

Son was a high profile player. Double figures seasons since 12/13, apart from his debut season for us. Worked his way up the top.

Sissoko didn't make any sense last summer. It was a panic buy. Maybe useful as an impact player, but that's it. Great physcial ability, nothing more, nothing less.

It's worth noting that we've binned off the useless cunt who was (seemingly) responsible for most of our signings over the years
