Ex-Spurs Player Toby Alderweireld

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

No he's a class player and can't wait to see him back but we've lost 2 games (all comps) since he's been out and drawn 3 including today. Not the catastrophic picture the tweet was tying to show.
The difference now is that we've got Sanchez. He's still very raw, but he has helped us overcome the problems we had last year when Toby was out.

2016-17 may have been only one place higher in the PL than 2015-16, but that doesnt tell the story of how much better we were. Points, goals for, goals against....huge difference. The only real addition to the team in that time was big Vic. (you could make a case for Walker/Aurier, but I think that would be a red herring). There's the Wembley factor too of course.

All in all, I think the team has done very well so far with so much to contend with.

I hope you are right. Getting worried that we may be seeing a similar pattern to Walker. Toby tweeted that he was fit for NLD which may have annoyed Poch. Not signed new contract. Is Poch trying to show him we can manage without him ? I hope not and I will be disappointed if he does not play Tuesday.

The thought did cross my mind when I saw he wasn't in the squad - but then what are the likelihood a central defender is brought on? Especially when Dier can easily drop back and we could bring Wanyama on etc

We'll find out on Tuesday. My gut feeling says, all things being equal, I would have expected him to be in the squad at least against Woolwich, so it may be the case that it's become apparent Alderweireld won't sign a new contract and Poch wants to go with Sanchez, as that's where the future lies. If that is what's happening, I agree with that stance and I think it's likely he'll go in the Summer. We've got history with CBs stringing us along over new contracts so I'm not overly tolerant of such behaviour as it's an unwelcome distraction.
