Sherwood stopped us getting into a relegation scrap, had a better win ratio than AVB, took us to a 6th place finish and gave Kane his chance rather than persisting with Soldado as AVB (and many here preferred).
Big mouth, not good enough for the long haul etc etc etc, but he did a decent job that season and left the team in fairly healthy shape for Poch.
People might not like him and thats fine, but that doesnt run parallel with "he was shit".
Life doesnt work like that.
I don't think any team is physically strong enough to maintain an intense pressing game in every game over a season competing in multiple competitions. Also how difficult is it to apply the same tactics, not just staff, but same approach that saw us beat Chelsea away, at Brighton? Or in the semi?
Some people say our problem is he sticks too rigidly to our philosophy.
My complaint is we dont. Our game is pressing off the ball relentlessly, attacking with pace, defending from the front, bossing the middle. This should be the same regardless of formation.
We dont do it enough. Even during our good run, some games were touch and go. When he stops us pressing, we are, basically, rubbish.
AVB v Sherwood
Fucking hell I thought all that was dead and buried last May at the finale
Yet here we are another semi final, champions league fun and top 4 finish, we dig up this shit
Why? What does it achieve?
Fuck this

Behave Sammy, there's no fucking way that you can spin Timmy into saving anyone from relegation...
100%.This is the best Tottenham team I've watched in 45yrs and it's been built, nurtured and developed by Poch. Right about now he walks on water for me, I can spend time focussing on the odd game hear and there to make criticisms of him but why would I want to do that? It's feels such a waste of effort and for what purpose would it serve?
I'm working on it...Not what I said though despite the hysterics....Im glad no one disputes the rest of the points I made though

Agree on more rotation, better strength in depth. But also perhaps having a better plan B when we can't press, which I think we have done to some extent (look at Dortmund home and Madrid away) but maybe we could improve at this.Yep thats becoming painfully clear....I dont know what the answer is, other than more rotation outside the full backs.
If Poch is serious about "not being serious" regarding the domestic cups, then we really should be fielding 11 "b teamers" every round.
For me, one way to stop Harry's burn outs would have been to use Llorente more from day one and integrate him into the set up. Its too late now of course, and has been for 6 months.
Players cant come on and make a difference or be motivated playing 6 minutes every second month Im afraid.
For me our problems are the same as last summer, although the positions that need addressing have changed a bit.
Get in some quality players that you trust enough to actually use when Dele, Kane, Eriksen etc are off form or fatigued. We cannot be in a position where Harry is never rested like the last week. Its just too costly.
It was more the performances for me.....if ever a team was screaming "dressing room lost" it was that 5-0 at home to Liverpool. Not too long after 3-0 at home to West fucking Ham.
It didnt look good, but we'll never really agree on Tim or Harry, so no need to dig it all up I suppose.
That's because he didn't have enough time to really fuck things up...imagine if he'd had a transfer window...just ask any Villa fan.he did a decent job that season and left the team in fairly healthy shape for Poch.
If we white wash our history from all the bad times, we'll never move on. None of this achieves anything, chatting on here, its just a discussion, like the window threads and match threads.
