Match Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur, 17th April [0-1 AGG]

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It’s the sort of game where you have to press City, not matter how scary that feels. This is a game of nerves. You want them to be nervous, and feel that even if they beat the press the first five times, you are not going to stop pressing because you know they will eventually give in. You want them to lose their nerve and start kicking it long. You want them to be uncomfortable.

Moura and Son and Alli sitting on whichever Silva is currently in form ought to do it.

Agree we also have to keep KDB quiet he caused us more trouble in the 4 mins he played than anyone else they had all game

In two minds about whether to start llorente. City defence is shit and he's a warrior in the air. But considering our recent record of not being to cross a ball past the first man, I'm inclined to drop him for son and try to exploit their weak defence. I think winks is much better at retaining the ball than alli too and doesnt even showboat. Alli looked off the pace in all games this season except for the wins over Chelsea and Woolwich, so this isn't the game to play him alongside sissoko.

Have a feeling it will be very much like the Dortmund first half. If we can get in at ht without conceding then we'll go through. Even at 1 down I'd fancy us.

COYS.

In a world of Mourinhos, Guardiolas, Klopps, Van Gaals, Warnocks, Hughes, Sherwoods, Redknapps etc. etc. etc, Pochettino oozes class in every sentence.

Not forgetting he is explaining himself in a foreign language that he has learnt later than the first four above

None of that mind games bollocks and as he said "no excuses" for him.

Winks being out is a bit of a blow, you need to pack the midfield against a team that plays like Man City does.

I guess we're going for 3 at the back with Sissoko Eriksen and Dele in the midfield. Think we're going to have to spend long periods soaking it up at the back.

Keeping them from getting the away goal was monumental. They have a huge dilemma.
Go for the throat from the off and risk conceding on the counter, or be patient, in which case the crowd will get restless and we have a chance to work them out, grow in confidence & perhaps even take the game to them.
They are, of course, perfectly capable of hitting that sweet spot and murdering any team, but I think the pressure is on them. They are the most expensively assembled squad in history, at home & expected to be in the final. Bottle this and questions will be asked.

I am nervously optimistic about this one.
