Match We can be heroes champions league final 01/06/2019

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just a bit of perspective on Alli - he's 23 ffs. We expect more than he was able to give this season, but the guy should be part of our team for the next couple of years at least.

Just a quick reminder that despite last night and the shit form before it, we've had a cracking season.
We have to get him back where he belongs, behind Kane getting in and around the box.
He has been stuck on the left, asked to do a job in front of the back 4 ... messed about really for the good of the team. Put him in his best position, then judge him.

sad thing is no player on either side played well last night, I think a lot of our players will have big regrets about how they played last night, one player playing up to his high standard could have won us the game

Seriously, you would dismiss a player that talented because he didn't put on a Ronaldo performance in every match?

Again, who has said he needs to put in a Ronald performance every match?. Fuck sake.. for me the only decent game he had all season was the game you have shown. If we want to move forward should we accept that a player should play because he has the odd decent game or was good in the past??. What we should do is give him the chance to prove himself like he has done in the past and that’s what we are doing..

Why do people have to go to extremes because they don’t want to accept the truth? No one has said dump him, no one has said he’s not good. All people are saying is he needs to up his game next season.

I don’t understand all the hate. Dissapoitment sure. Getting to this final was unexpected. We rode our luck somewhat to get there and the journey has bought many good moments and feelings I’ve not had in years.

The last five seasons have all been about consolidating top four whilst trying to get into our stadium. We’ve done that but stumbled across this final along the way but we’ve not come prepared with the right tools. It was always going to be a huge ask.

This season has given me hope. VAR has cut out lots of those unfair decisions that have all to often gone against us, this will only continue... now is time for the next stage, to look at what we have and where we are lacking so we’re able to take that next step. We need 2-3 match winners/game changers not just nice guys who enjoy training and are friendly with their teammates.

It’s the Tottenham Hotspur rollercoaster.
The match itself was disappointing as a spectacle and just didn’t live up to expectations.
However, I thought we were the better team on the night.
That penalty decision in the first minute really was a kick in the bollocks. I don’t think it was a penalty, but that’s the way it goes. We were always chasing the game and just couldn’t quite do it.
I’m feeling very deflated this morning, but also proud of my team.
Just give Poch some money to rebuild where he thinks we need rebuilding.

Not that I disagree with perspective, but the age thing doesn’t really apply anymore. If you’re good enough, you’re good enough. 23 isn’t even that young these days.

I like Dele but there’s a nagging feeling that he’s not kicking on. Agree completely that he’s central for next season, but he’s going to have to perform.

He's not done, I agree.. but surely we can agree that this season he was way off his standards.

I cant put it down to one aspect, but he is lacking the sharpness and spark he possessed in previous campaigns.

Oh I agree with you...but he's not done. I think fatigue and injuries to himself and others have stopped any runs or fluency this season. Couple of decent signings tho and a rest and he'll be back on it.

I hope Levy backs Poch this summer and we make a couple of signings within the next week or two. I feel that we could all do with a lift.

Last night wasn't great, worst possible start (harsh call but probably correct), hope that we don't get blown away but as we settle into the game we start to play okay, nothing more nothing less. Don't create any good chances though and half-time we can breath again.

Second half we did step it up a tad but Liverpool were still dangerous. Taking off Winks was a strange one, Kane should have come off for me first for Lucas then Dele for Lamela. Didn't happen and we huffed and puffed but nothing particularly close. Then the killer second and it's all over.

Players need a long break, so does the manager and so do we . The dream didn't come true and we'll look back on this with regret for many years to come.

I hope we win something soon, I really do. I'll still love the club of course but we need to be able to put something into the trophy cabinet for all of our progress to actually mean something.

COYS

Those digging out individual players last night are no better than the scousers who hung their goalkeeper out to dry in last year’s final. As an objective observer I felt the way he was treated was appalling.

Some in here seem to think it’s ok to do the same with our lads. The ‘Boo Boys’ are back....

Ugh, horrible feeling. Not unlike that end of holiday blues right? Just empty and sad.

Still, that’s about as good as you get out of a lost final. Quick 2p analysis:

- it was a penalty. Hit him in the chest but then brought down with his arm. If you look at his eyes, I think Mane has exceptional speed of thought and lofted it up at him on purpose.
- nobody had a great game for Spurs. Someone needs to to win a final
- possession but no incision, frustrating
- both teams looked oddly fucked, the heat?
- was a poor game of football. Felt like the ball was up in the air for most of it
- on balance, what you expect. Much higher in the league and done us 3 times now this season. Liverpool are a very good team, credit to them

If I had one grumble, it’s Kane v VVD. Dijk is a big, strong and quick for his size defender. His best possible matchup is someone who’s not quite as big, strong and quick - Kane. His worst matchup is someone like Moura who has crazy acceleration.

Anyway, what a season, what a success. Very proud of the team and am sure this is start of something big. Remember:
- best new stadium in the world
- best training facilities
- great coach
- great core team

Success is coming, the next 10yrs are going to be ace. We were so close last night, and seeing our ribbons on half the trophy really brought home how far we’ve come. Chin up everyone, proud to be Tottenham Hotspur

An excellent post. My thoughts exactly.

I said we should sell Kane for £150m+ and re invest ito the squad and I still stand by that you kiddy fiddling cunt. Funny how you have to attack my post history just because I made you feel stupid about your VAR statement. Grow up you twat, the last thing I want is this place becoming a bitter embarrassing cringe fest like certain other forums.
Can you please make your point without accusing someone of being a paedophile, what a disgusting insult to throw at someone. So unnecessary. Thank you.

Then re-read your post, ask Case to delete your account and never look at a keyboard again.

Lolz.
It's clear his arm is up and pointing on the var.... I wouldn't mind betting that mane saw the point and deliberately kicked it at his arm?

That's exactly what happened but anyone who thinks that should be a penalty and players can no longer point to instruct their team mates for fear of cheats purposely kicking the ball at their arm(and missing in this case ) should go and watch basketball.

Unfortunate penalty to concede but Sissoko should not have had his hands in the position they were. Players know the rules. Then a half full of nearly nothing. Misplaced passes by both sides, full of hesitancy and fear.

Second half we played better (worse would have been some feat) and in truth had the opportunity to have created much better than we did and when we did get close Allison was solid.

And that's it. No blame on Lloris, Vertonghen, Sissoko, penalty apart or Winks. Rose and Triplier didn't and don't do what Pochettino needs in his preferred system. No blame on either but they ain't good enough simple.

But for me our so called star quartet, one of whom should not have started fell short. You look to them and if you need big performances we saw nothing, maybe other than Son in the 2nd half and it wasn't a big performance.

Players are a funny breed. They will bemoan ambition of a club and yet can be part of its failure. As for Pochettino he will have to live with making a decision on Kane that I won't say backfired but one in which I would say didn't pay off.

A painfully slow build-up to the game was followed by our painfully slow build-up during that first. All we did in the 2nd half was show we have pride and can play. We did not make a Liverpool side, beset with their own fears fret or force them into making mistakes and we never looked like grabbing something out of the blue.

It all rests on fine margins but Liverpool, whilst far from brilliant were strong and resolute. We weren't and sadly nor were we capable enough on the night.

Where next will be the question for the summer?
