I don’t believe Dier is good enough to be a regular starter in any position, but he is certainly good enough to be part of our squad.

Quite often this season I’ve looked at our bench and got a slight panic, but seeing a good, experienced, flexible player on there would be great. Dier is one of those players. If we can develop the first team to the level we can have the likes of Dier, Lamela, Moura on the bench, we’ll do very well.

Have you seen them both play? If so then what is your reasoning for your preference?
Both are very talented in my eyes but I think Fernandes delivers more aspects we're lacking currently. We've been short of firepower against teams parking the bus quite often this season. Son and Lucas are superb against teams providing some space for them to pick up tempo but we're not having real weapons to deal with 10 Bournemouth players defending deeply. Eriksen was ripping a lot of these games open with his free kicks (either goal or assist) but somehow he lost that skill over night at some point. Imaginig he will be gone soon, we need someone to have this ability. Another thing is our shots from around the box. How often do we games with 15 attemps and just 2 on target. Apart from some Son stunners we really do not have anyone to produce any quality shots from outside the box regularely. Lo Celso is having better technical abilities and passing, thus provide us more control, though Fernandes is the one creating far more danger by himself. His shooting abilities are far superior to any other alternative we have.
Buying Fernandes would also require us strengthen up our CM.. we should get a replacement for Wanyama there.

He’s an absolutely would beater at Portuguese league. Like a god this last two seasons. He can play both but as number 8 he’s better suited in a 433. Wherever eriksen can play he does the same basically

So NDombele should be Dembele’s replacement.

Fernandes is Eriksen’s replacement.

Lo Celso is Levy’s gift to Poch for bringing the club glory during a tumultuous season

Let's be honest though, we really don't need 3 out of Son, Lucas and Lamela do we? If Fernandes has been earmarked as an Eriksen replacement as Nabil Bentaleb Nabil Bentaleb has stated he has the skills to be and Lo Celso comes in to offer more diversity instead of Lamela let's say that's shaping up to look very competitive.

It won't happen but if we could offer more diversity in attack with options such as Fernandes, Dele, Lo Celso, Lucas, Son & Kane then Pochettino really would be able to flex his tactical muscles with a variety of different plays and styles to keep the opposition guessing. I've got no idea how it'll all pan out but it's positive to hear that Fernandes could do an Eriksen type role for us as I don't think Lo Celso offers what Christian can in the volumes required for our style (should we wish to continue playing with the same philosophy)

I asked you if you had actually seen both play. None of this you wrote advances my knowledge of what we need or the players beyond what I already knew. This explanation speaks of someone that has read the stats and seen the highlights but not the players play the game.

If Eriksen, a far, far, far, far superior player to Fernandes, cannot get shots of from outside the box as frequently as you would like then what makes you think Fernandes will? And the reason we are relying on shots from outside the box is because we have no control of the game from our MF and no one skilled enough and/or cunning enough to commit defenders not because we are not taking potshots from deep. If you had seen Fernandes you would know that he shoots a lot (and misses a lot) and it is only tolerated because there is nobody any good on his team. He would not have that luxury with us. And it would be frustrating to watch shot after shot (when he wasn't bullied off the ball) sail into the crowd.

Please watch the final tomorrow and then tell me what you think.

We don't need a direct replacement for Eriksen.

Because there isn't one out there and if there was, we wouldn't be able to afford them.

We need a complete overhaul of how we approach games and play football. We have zero midfield and a lack of technical ability throughout.

NDombele and Lo Celso wouldn't just be Eriksen replacements. They are designs towards a whole new Tottenham in general.

But I am slightly worried that Fernandes would be seen as a direct Eriksen replacement, but not only would he be a downgrade, but I also worry we'd be looking to play the same way next season too.

You don't think a midfield and attack looking like the following could work or kick us on?:

Winks Ndombele

Lo Celso Fernandes Dele

Kane

Options like Lucas and Sonny to rotate with and I definitely see excellent strength amongst all of that. All speculative of course but if there's money to spare and we decide to move Lamela on, Alderweireld goes and we decide to utilise the versatility of Davies and Dier as CD options I can see this having legs. It would probably mean we end up with th same full backs we have now though, whochnwoukd he a shame because I'd love a bit of Atal and Rose overlapping that attacking spine

That team would kick us on.

But that wasn't what I said.
