Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I have a relative who works in the clubs accounts department, he's actually quite high up, he hears rumour and gossip around the office and also sits in on quite a few meetings. He was part of the stadium build steering committee for example. We speak fairly regularly and he tells me what he can ... all of this is caveated as just high level gossip ... he's been wrong on transfers stuff as often as he's right ... what he does have is very good info on finance, not that he will share much of that. The one thing he has said over and over is that Poch has always had access to a huge amount of money, he just hasn't been able to get the players he wanted. Let's hope that all changes this summer.

Something that may interest you - the stadium is/will generate income far in excess of even the most optimistic budget forecast ... Spurs are making more money on just about everything from ordinary ticket sales, to F&B, corporate, conference hire, advertising, sponsorship, etc. The accounts over the next couple of years will be mind blowing .... the idea was to close the gap on our rivals, think you will find we've done that and more ....

Huge is such a relative term...Is this caveated as high level gossip too?

Another bit of gossip -

Jesus Perez allegedly met with Giampiero Pocetta yesterday, he's Pellegrini's agent who was/is in London at the moment ... at 22 and available for under 35m Lorenzo Pellegrini could be a Poch type punt. DL will like it as the potential upside on that transfer is pretty big.

Zidane reportedly wants Pogba so can’t see them getting Eriksen as well.

Lets be straight here.

Pogba is an unbelievable talent but is no leader. Neither is Eriksen and certainly wouldn't be at Real Madrid.

If they could get him alongside Pogba and Hazard they would but no chance this summer.

But Hazard releases Pogba from the burden of leader and if he goes there watch this space.

Eriksen still holds many of the aces and this summer will have to see resolution because unlike Alderweireld, I don't believe there is a clause of any sort.

You think?

PSG long shot or Bayern definitely would turn his head somewhat.

Juventus would be hard to resist. Beyond those 2 or 3 not sure where the new challenge is found.

I would like to think we are readying an even better offer to him as plan A/B.

With us though, you really have no way of telling.

God forbid we hear Eriksen signing a new contract is as good as signing a new player!!!
god love you, you still write in haikus

That right there is the issue I think. I'm pretty sure that if Eriksen wants out, that Pochettino would like Fernandes to replace him. With time being a factor the club finds itself in a tricky situation where we may lose it on Christians replacement if we don't no move for Fernandes soon. It's a tough one but with the Real/ Pogba updates this afternoon or the rumours at least it does leave Eriksen and the club in a bit of limbo.

We can't buy Fernandes without the Eriksen money, we can't sell Eriksen and not get Fernandes, something along those kind of lines it seems.

If I were the club I'd be putting this on the back burner or telling Eriksen he needs to sign or the option of staying at Spurs is off of the table. & mean it. The issue with that is leaving ourselves exposed to low balling based on our ultimatum making. The club needs to decide on what it would prefer more, a player who is keen on a future with us or one who is aprehensive to commit, even if he has greater quality.

If Eriksen is as sensitive as people close to him have made out then I see the Real Madrid knockback being a real kick in the teeth for him. Timongncould be everything on this one, I really don't know which way he'll go if the club he wants isn't up for him.

All good points but how do we make him leave this summer if Barca aren’t interested, PSG can’t buy due to FFP, and Juve only want to offer us £30m?

Ultimately we’re still pretty fucked unless we take the drastic decision that if he refuses to sign and we don’t get an offer for him, then he’s in the reserves. I can’t see us doing that but one thing that works in our favour is his character is not the sort who would enjoy a “year off”.

According to Marca (who have been saying the same for some weeks now), Zidane wants Pogba and not Eriksen, the club prefer Eriksen. When ZZ returned the suggestion was that he wanted a greater say in such matters so we'll have to see which side prevails. My money would be on Zidane slightly, I think Madrid are very conscious of not repeating their managerial chaos of last season.

Our bid for Lo Celso was actually 35m

Fucking Levy

That would still be our second most expensive fee of all time, Levy is not going to just throw money at players. We have limitations and concluding deals will take time. If Levy can save £10m by haggling then he will do it, he is never going to change.

Pogba has won the WC and many trophies with Juventus and United. It's obvious why Zidane would think he is more likely to succeed at Real than Eriksen. I really think that CL final performance will end up nixing Eriksen's move to Real, that was not the performance of someone who is cut out for Real Madrid. On the biggest night of his life he never left the dressing room. Compare that to what Ramos, Bale, Ronaldo etc have produced in the same circumstances.
