Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He'd had two years at RBS then a year at RBL - I know statsbomb were flagging him up as a prospect while at RBS and his next season at RBL was very good - and another half decent season waiting for his move to Liverpool.

But no one was going to spend £60,000,000 on him off the back of two good seasons in a shit Austrian league.

Whereas we should be all over NDombele who has had not just two good seasons in Ligue 1, a huge step up from Austrian Bundesliga, but a good showing in the Champions League too.

And how good was Naby Keita for Liverpool this season? Personally I think with his age and experience, as well as a lack of top teams being in for him that Ndombele around the £60m mark is more than enough for Lyon to think they're getting a reasonably good deal out of it. I'm not the one negotiating the deal though so it's all hear say

Not as good as they'd have hoped, I'm sure. But glimpses of his promise were clear before his injury.

Point is, they took the gamble and Klopp wanted him. Whilst his performances alone didn't get them to where they got last season, spending money on the ones they wanted did.

We can't afford to miss out on signing big players that will help us on our way, especially when we CAN afford them.

I can't help but wonder if we want to have the Ndombele and Lo Celso deals done simultaneously so as to avoid either selling club being able to up one price based on the other.

Also, thank God the negotiation for Ndombele is by Levy and not me - I'd have been throwing the asking price at him straight away and been bent over by Aulas. Hopefully the current haggling is because Spurs are confident we're the only club seriously in for him... though it won't stop me bricking myself that someone like City will gazump us for lingering too long.

He's had 2 solid seasons under his belt.

Naby Keita had one good season under his belt before Liverpool spend £60,000,000 on him and that was activating a release clause wasn't it?
No. They paid more than his clause, a year before it kicked in, to guarantee first option on him. He stayed until the clause activated, and moved straight to the dippers

Still, they spent big money on him after one good season in a top league because they saw someone who would improve their squad and Klopp wanted him.

It's exactly what we need to do with NDombele.

We could quite easily just go for Kessie, who'll cost half the price, has had plenty of top league experience with 3+ seasons in Serie A and will improve our squad - but we should just get NDombele in because he's better, will improve our eleven and is one of the best in his position at what he does.

Really don't get the Ake hate on here. Very good cultured LCB

Agreed. Live in Bournemouth and although a Spurs fan, get my PL fix going to all the B'mth home games. Bournemouth would have been relegated this season if it were not for Ake, he has saved their bacon. He has intercepted and defended so many goals this season. Ask any Cherries fan who their best player has ben this season 99% would say Ake.

That's probably true, together with Ryan Fraser. Wilson was great before his knee injury as well.

Tottenham open talks with Lyon over Tanguy Ndombélé but clubs far apart

Two notoriously hard bargainers locking horns...

I have a feeling it could take a while
Word in France is that Aulas wants the deal done before July 1st, so it counts towards this previous season's books. He's also tried to start a bidding war but with seemingly no success.

Now we sit and watch two of the toughest negotiators dance the tango.
Which is why this won't happen until June 30th, probably for exactly in the middle of what they both want.

People on here think £ 21m difference is nothing, but Levy is probably thinking that if he knocks £10m off the asking price that's a free Jack Clarke.

I don't think £66m is unreasonable, but lets not act like its not 30% higher than it would be if he was sold outside the Premier League.

Because N'dombele is closer to Pogba in playing style than Eriksen is, N'dombele is French and N'dombele is younger.
Depends on what Madrid want - proven big name start in his prime or up and comer. Madrid seems to prefer the former.

Also, Ndombele may prefer Spurs at this point in his career for playing time and then look to move on in 3-4 years. Who knows.

Not that that is a good Levy excuse.

No it’s just that much less
