Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

How the tables have turned -

Woolwich have like us been watching Joachim Andersen for ages they thought they could sneak in with a bid, turns out he would rather wait for a "big club" to make an approach. We are waiting for Toby to make up his mind, seems Joachin is prepared to wait for us rather than go to Woolwich ... regardless of how it plays out, that's just funny.

Not sure Woolwich can afford him - or if they can then he is probably the only major signing of their TW. Their transfer budget rumoured to total £40m..

As I have said elsewhere he is probably a contingent deal lined up in case we need to buy a CB urgently if Toby not here. Had heard CCV also a contingency, and we also have Dier but might need another CM if Dier reallocated as a CB

Guess we are in the Levy-Aulas "game of chicken" phase right now. It's true that Lyon have CL and there is no real reason that Ndombele needs to leave just yet. I just hope Ndombele doesn't get turned off by our lack of willingness to spend on him. I don't think he seems like that kind of player, but, for sure some would be, especially with sell-on fees and agents in their ear, wanting a cut.

I also read elsewhere that Lo Celso is spooked by our lack of a high bid for him.
Not sure if it's real or not but apparently Poch called him to explain Levy's bidding/negotiation style.

It's the hope and the waiting that kills you!

If we just got Ndombele and kept Eriksen (new 2 year deal?), I'd be happy with the summer window.

Not saying you're wrong, but if I was a player, as long as MY demands were met I wouldn't be particularly fussed what my trf fee was.

He goes on about bombing Catalans and Basques coz he's y'know, a proper patriot, and tweeted some vile shit about the breasts of 15 year old girls and the BJs they give. In his defence he was 17 at the time but even so, he has never apologised for it or said that was then and his views have changed.

I also don't think he's that great and wonder if he's the sort that would adapt well to life in England

Aaaaah, it's THAT guy?!?!? Ewww.... :carrollwtf:

Heard quite a lot.

As I may have said before, that's effectively getting to where we were at the end of the 2017-18 season. It doesn't strengthen the squad, doesn't offer Pochettino new options

Ndombele doesn't offer Poch new options? What?
He'd be a huge upgrade on Moussa Dembele from a passing perspective, much less our current lot of CMs...

But yes, back to your point, it'd also be great to get Sessegnon in as well to have a real outside LW again. We haven't had one since Bale. I'm just of the opinion that Levy is gonna spend as little as corporately possible again and we should be prepared to be happy with meager reinforcements once again.

If true, it's called backing your manager who has done nothing in the management game.

And yet we continue to posture after nearly 19 months.

Pochettino will simply be watching and waiting.

It's the going rate/premium for young English talent I'm afraid.
Re: Poch, it's not really fair to judge our window until it's done.
So far, it's just been a bunch of hype and failed bids. Effectively nothing has happened.

We haven't played 'wingers' since before Poch arrived.... Why would that suddenly be a concern re: Sessengon?

If we're not deploying him as a LB/LWB then logically, wouldn't we invert him and play him as R-AM?

Da fuck's that meant to mean?

I repeat... What "posturing"?

Oh come on.

Take your head out of the sand a little.

We have a magnificent stadium but a squad of players who were stripped bare last season.

The posturing, at least as I see it is that we can't even bid the number for players our managers wants or seem to think waving our gonads alone will attract the talent we clearly need.
It's the going rate/premium for young English talent I'm afraid.

But this is fast becoming a joke.

We can find no one goof enough and cannot or will not pay for those who might just walk into our 13 defeats last season team and so just how to be anything but critical.

It's always good to be able to stretch play wide. Having a real outside winger means you can keep fbs from cheating inside knowing your winger can't make an effective play from a wide/touchline/endline area. It stretches defense and keeps them honest, which theoretically leads to more chances/space/goals.

Honestly, using more wide players in wide areas is an area in which I think Poch could improve tactically. Just my 2 cents on the situation. I'm sure some will disagree though.

If we had a shit-hot LB it might not matter so much, but Rose hasn't shown his pre-mental meltdown levels, and doesn't look to be getting back there anytime soon, if ever.
