Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

No, it's not a great transfer policy to bring in 3 players near the end of transfer window, the premier league season starts next week and those lads if we succeed in bringing them in haven't had a chance to have a preseason with us or get settled in.

"If we wait until May and sell before signing, it's so difficult to bring in players that can help. This season is a very good example. We signed good players but it was so late, with no preseason and then they have to play.

"You need six or seven months for the players to adapt themselves to the team, the dynamics, everything. And that is always against us. We were talking about how important it is to identify our targets and on 3 July, when we start preseason, have them here. If not, it's so difficult for them to help the team. And during the season, you're going to pay."

Hahahahahahahaha - Give it up it's been a fantastic window you daft sod ... and waiting 8 weeks has saved us 30 odd million on fees, sure not your money but in the real world it matters ..... professional players taking six or seven months to adapt? - tell that to Ronaldo or VVD they seemed to do OK last season ... and how about VDV or Klinsman how did they work out for us?

Come on be happy .... you know you want to .....

Unpopular opinion maybe, but if we have to go massive on Dybala fees and wages then I'm not particularly in favour. Good player, but still a gamble based on his patchy form and... well, 2 goals in 24 appearances for Argentina?

Very much a fee based on reputation rather than reality. I'd put him in the James Rodrigues or Mario Goetze category... you know they can do it, you just can't do them to do it when it matters. If anyone can get the best out of him, Poch can... but what if he doesn't want to be improved?
Try not to think about any of that and get on the train dude

He had 1 bad season at juve, when Ronaldo arrived and he was shifted out on the right, every other season for Juve he has been class and is still only 25. James Rodriguez by comparison, had a good world cup and that's about it. Mario Goetze ballooned in weight and hasn't been the same for about 4 years now, Dybala shouldn't be compared to either, if it happens we're getting a top top player.

Who's the black fella on SSN with the bun? Face is familiar but his slightly effeminate voice (and bun) are throwing me.

Disclaimer: I realise "effeminate" isn't the most woke term in these times of toxic masculinity and smashing the patriarchy and so forth but you know what I mean. Apologies to the international sisterhood
Looks like an ex-C

Every transfer has an element of risk but that risk is reduced when you bring in truly great players at 25-years old.

He's one of the most marketable players around and will make us tons of money in shirt sales but more importantly he continues to raise our brand. The fact that we can get these players in now means we are well and truly in that elite bracket. Future signings will jump at the chance to play alongside Kane, Dybala, Ndombele - it has a snowball effect.

His "name" is what it is due to his quality and his performances over an extended period of time at one of the world's biggest clubs. He will terrify premier league defences and when you combine with Son, Kane and Lo Celso we will have a ridiculous amount of goal threat.

That's true but I do think in an ideal world you'll have all your signings done and dusted weeks before the season starts. Gives them more time to settle into the squad, know their teammates, a new country etc plus good for the manager.

Still it's a very long season and really it shouldn't affect us too much.

Should be an exciting day and season now!

Lo Celso only came back last week didnt he? Sessegnon is still injured i think - how much pre-season have they missed?

How about not making comments on whether it's based on reputation, while downgrading his reputation with zero context.

Club form has been debated widely already.

National team, 2 in 24 sounds poor. With the context that it's 2 in 12 starts with the best player in the World OWNING your best position and it's quite a different story.

Even Messi plays shit for Argentina

No doubt it is not the ideal way to integrate signings. But Betis wanted £88m for GLC in June, now we are paying a £15m loan fee then £40m next summer. Fulham wanted £45m for Sessegnon at the start of the window, now we are getting him for £25m. Dybala wasn't even possible until a few weeks ago.

Levy doesn't leave things late out of spite, he does it because he feels it's easier to get the deals we want. Sometimes it goes wrong and you get a Grealish situation, sometimes it goes right and you get this. Would Poch have preferred that we signed only GLC and Ndombele in June and had no money for Sessegnon and Dybala? Or would he prefer that we get them all but 3 of them sign late?
I've been hearing Sessengon for 25 million for a couple of months now, going by what I know from Poch quotes, he wants a plan with the transfer activity, not this plan we have got right now. So perhaps if GLC is to expensive then we move on to another target or perhaps we identify targets before their price sky rockets. More often than not it's Rasiak and Cambell when we leave it late, than Modric and VDV.
