I think he would need to, yeah. Preferably with Vertonghen on the left of him.

He's wasted on the bench. £40,000,000. Most would say his development halted last season due to lack of true game time or chopping and changing partners every time.

He needs to be put in the line up. With a consistent partner every week and allowed to grow and develop. WE are wasting his potential.
Perhaps Poch does not believe he is ready to be first choice, or in a first choice pairing? He is still far inferior to both Jan and Toby. Next year there will be nowhere to hide if both leave though.

The plan was to sell Toby for big money last summer, he’d already been phased out and Davinson had taken over. For whatever reason Toby is still here and to get into the starting XI Davinson has to train harder and show more quality than him. That’s how it has to be and that’s how Poch does it. Nobody gets a start just because they think it’s their turn.

Davinson got bullied by many forwards last season (including a washed up player like Babel) and shat himself many times, he didn’t deserve to start ahead of Toby. He hasn’t earned that starting place back yet.

That clearly isn't how it works because as you put it, Poch was phasing Toby out the previous year and gave Sanchez his opportunity which he took with both hands and was excellent.

Poch last season decided to just go back to the Toby and Vertonghen for some reason (even though it was proven not to be as good as it was in the 16/17 season).

Sanchez needs consistent game time. With a consistent partner to develop his game. Coming in one week and partnering Foyth, then being dropped only to be brought back in the following week to play alongside Toby, to then play in a back three the next week, to then be dropped ISNT good for his development.

Poch is as much to blame then.

If he isn't ready it's because his development has been poorly handled. A bit like how he poorly handled KWPs.
