Both sets of fans seem to think they’d be title challengers if they joined the English league. Forgetting the fact that they’d have to persuade players to live in Glasgow. Also forgetting that their previous honours would be completely redundant in attracting players, barring Celtics European Cup I suppose
Most Celtic and Rangers players tend to live around Loch Lomond, Stirlingshire and even Edinburgh, not in Glasgow itself although there are some very nice parts of Glasgow.
I think if they were given access to the TV money in the EPL they might both do OK in England but it’s never going to happen anyways.

Celtic in particular are not going to give up the sweet gig they have now for the chance to maybe become a decently big club in the prem. As interesting as the notion is.

There’s been talk of the two Scottish clubs playing south of the border for some time. I do wonder though, what makes either club think they could bypass the promotion system and join the English premier league.

When Wimbledon had their identity crisis and MK Dons were born the die hards started their own club from ground zero and AFC Wimbledon have had to work their way through the leagues.

Any “big” club from Scotland would surely have to begin their Scottish to English league transition in at at least tier five as the Dons did; but saying that I would not welcome either club into the English league due to the stain of sectarian hatred they both carry, and that neither bans or fines can get rid of. True there will be supporters of both clubs that are above that sort of nonsense and themselves are appalled by it and themselves would love to rid themselves of the brain-dead’s; but it seems that the reality is that the culture is entrenched in far too many for that to happen.

Agreed, many English clubs like to get involved as well. Chelsea and Millwall off the top of my head have Rangers links, it’s all pathetic and completely archaic nowadays

Just the thought of handing either Glasgow side’s Celtic or Rangers EPL money makes my blood boil. Every season clubs in the EPL fight to maintain their status on the gravy train and ever year three sides lose their battle and are relegated; in the Championship they too are annually slogging it out to reach the pinnacle even via the play offs and every year there is heartbreak.

Yet Celtic and Ranger dream of a passport to the EPL. It’s a joke!

I’ve never really understood this need to have a Scottish team thing, though I know many people in England that do, and that’s fine if you are of Scottish parents; otherwise I don’t understand it and that includes the Tottenham Aberdeen friendship.

The Chelsea Rangers link was always more to do with the NF and the BNP that had strong links with both sets of fans but I wouldn’t say that was true of all English supporters that chose to support Rangers be they Millwall or whoever else.

My family are all from Glasgow so I’m a Celtic fan because they are, absolutely nothing to do with religion, I’m Jewish. Many English fans follow rangers because they are pro Britain, it’s odd

Couldn’t agree more that, as others have said, if Celtic and Rangers were to be admitted to the English League system they should start at the bottom of the pyramid.
Highly unlikely to ever happen and I don’t even think it’s an issue that either club is currently concerned with.

Yes, I think they like the fact that the Rangers lot fly the flag of the union and sing the Royal English national anthem: I could find nothing more off putting myself, except the same sectarian crap spouted by the Celtic lot. It’s very very rare to hear monkey noises at English football grounds today so we can live in hope that one day Scotland will catch up!
