Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Mhh

we have someone in our team whose only task is to recycle possession, the other one is to run around like a headless chicken and pointing out where his teammates should pass the ball to.

Do they count as luxury players too?
We’ve got the best striker in the country who’s been reliant on Aurier’s crosses for his primary service route all year and Coutinho is still considered a luxury!

Do you "buy" that we spent circa 160m this year and that we were also building a stadium during prior windows?

If not, download our accounts, crunch the numbers and prove your theory.

Conspiracy theory is futile.
Yes that's correct. But profit is counted after the costs are cared for, so the costs are accounted for. I don't know what date the accounting year ends, if last summer's costs are included in that years profit or not. But we should still be able to use the superprofits we have made the last couple of years as a buffer now that it's a bit of an ebb.

So if we go off Dan KP correctly predicting our transfer business last summer I think we will end up with:

In:
Hojberg
Kim Min-Jae
Castagne
Callum Wilson

Out:
Rose
KWP
Juan Foyth

Ndombele stays as “spurs are very reluctant to give up on their record signing after one season”.

I know most would be looking for bigger names on that list but Dan KP was freakishly accurate last time so I’m just going to resign myself to this.

Atleast we may finally get to see a Ndombele/DM/Gio midfield with Kane/Son/Bergwijn ahead of them. Even if that DM is Hojberg I’m still confident we can surprise a few if we do start playing this team next season.

Defence has looked better in recent weeks and with a DM in front of them they can only get better. Left back will be our biggest weakness if this is how the window goes. Maybe Sess/Cirkin do well in the EL and force their way in to the starting 11?

Levy is obviously staycationing on the south coast and looking to do all our deals down there

Not getting rid of Sissoko and Aurier will only hurt us

Don't think we need that Kim bloke. Even if Fourth goes we have 4 senior CBs with tanganga signing his new deal. How many do you need before you look at the youth team? I'd happily sell either or both of winks and Sissoko. Neither are any better than squad players and if hojberg (not my preference but looks most likely) comes in at least one of those two can go.

I'd sell Lamela as well and bring back Edwards; more upside there and homegrown.

I would look at an English GK as our no. 2.

I'd happily use Parrott as the second striker, but if we signed someone decent like Mitrovic or Wilson that would probably be better. .

No clue on RB (haven't seen that Atalanta bloke play, and heard mixed things on him) but I'd rather bring back KWP than buy Aarons if that's the path we were looking at.

Based on Gold’s latest report it appears RB, DM, AM, ST are the main targets with Kim being a bonus if the price of right.

So, based on who we’ve been linked to...

RB - Castagne/Aarons
DM - Hojdbjerg
AM - Eze/Brooks/Coutinho
ST - Milik/Callum

CB - Kim

It doesn’t look exciting on paper, but I think it makes us a more complete team. We keep hearing the word “balance” and I think that’s more than just coach speak or taming expectations. If we can get a sturdy DM and a consistent RB I think the rest of the team starts performing better.

I think it looks like a transfer window that solidifies us at the top of the group of teams outside the top 4 (Woolwich, Wolves, Leicester) with the possibility of sneaking into the top 4 if Chelsea or United have something go wrong.

My only concern is that it also looks like a window that keeps us on that path towards top 6 rather than top 4. The Brooks/Eze moves would be a bit exciting going forward but otherwise it seems like moves that have little upside and mainly are just getting in capable players to do a decent job.

If we got one in each position from the above it would be pretty decent, but I’m quite flabbergasted that there hasn’t been a single tangible link to a left back. I think we’re in real trouble in that position. Another season of Ben Davies as our first choice would be a joke, and Sessengnon just doesn’t appear to have the ability to be a premier league left back.

From the linked targets I'd say only Hjobjerg, Castagne and Wilson (or a different backup striker) are musts for me.

Kim and Brooks would be smart buys but we don't truly need them for next year.

In:
Hojbjerg - 20m
Castagne - 14m
Eze - 18m
Muriqi - 16m

Out:
Aurier - 15m
Sissoko - 13m
Lamela - 15m
Foyth - 14m

Loan:
Parrott
Skipp

Think that would see us a much improved squad. I have a feeling we may start next season with Aurier, Sissoko and Lamela though. Nor do I think we'll be in for Eze in any serious way.

What are people’s feelings on Sessegnon?

Is he a LB or LM?

He isn’t getting a sniff of our first XI in the front 3, so he has to be thinking about forcing his way in as a LB surely?

Will Jose want that? He’s a fan of more pragmatic full backs for sure? If we ended up with a more defensive minded RB, can you see Sess playing the attacking outlet on the left, sort of how Aurier does on the right now?

If not, do we look to offload and see what we get back? Or loan and hope to increase value?

I like the kid personally. Would like to see him playing more, especially at LB. But I don’t want to see him doing nothing and just stagnating or regressing as a player and commodity.

Who knows since we saw so little of him.

I think his story kind of got ignored because of all the stuff going on this season- Poch, Jose, Ndombele, Eriksen, Covid, Injuries- but really it was puzzling to spend so much money for him then have him basically sit out the whole season, especially when we had a major need for someone like him (or what he is reported to be). I am really not sure why we didn't loan him out if this was all he was going to do this season.

I will say that I hope he is a LB because we need someone at that position much more than we do a LW. If he cannot play LB then I would be more than fine selling him because he still likely has value based on potential and we need someone like him who can actually play FB.

I know Ndombele gets lots of the talk about us needing to figure out what he is but I think that is equally the case for Sessegnon. If he is able to play big minutes- whether in Cups, EL, EPL, starting or coming off the bench- then I am not really sure what the point is of having him on the team.
