I am quite happy with PEH, a player who is a former captain with a good defensive midfield skill set. We certainly need a player like that, Winks, Lo Celso and Ndombele in particular are not defensive players and Sissoko is too limited a player for our midfield. It’s a boring signing but an important one I think.
Because getting 5 million more is a shit load of money, even for our club.
Also imagine if the club states the budget will be only 50 million net spend this year due to lost income, but then proceeds to not bother about 5 million in the Aurier deal, that's 10% of the budget gone because of careless mismanagement.
Yeah I know negotiations could fall through because of this, or players would only arrive on deadline day is also a possibility, but I feel the club should always try to get the best deal, football player values are arbitrary anyway.

Probably a lot of game time, CL football and Ten Hag is an excellent coach who loves to develop young players so that could be a smart move for one season and see how he will progress.

Why did we sign Sessegnon if we don’t think he’s good enough to get minutes in either an attacking or defensive position? With Europa League, especially the qualifying games, there will be opportunities for him.
I don’t want to send him on loan to a weaker league, he won’t learn anything there. He already played full seasons in the Championship. He needs to start adjusting to the highest level not drop down again.
