Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Chilwell and Diop will sort that out - they're streets ahead of us now
Diop as well now, first I've seen of that, I get the frustration at our transfer activity over the years, but can we at least wait until our rivals have actually signed players before we shit the bed and forfeit the season?

As far as I can tell, Havertz is still speculation, Chilwell may fall through due to injury concerns, and Diop I haven't seen anything until you posted it.

Same goes for Woolwich, people seem jealous that they have better twitter rumours than us, but they've so far signed Willian, that's it.

If Man U don't sign Sancho we will finish fourth.......although I caveat that with having the right to change my opinion based on how we do over the rest of the transfer window!
Lol of if you want to but what are you seriously expecting, it seems we are after low end items because of our skint rating.
I still think that 5th or 6th is about right for our ambition levels, anything else is a bonus out of the blue.

Chilwell is okay. I think £50,000,000 (or whatever the quoted fee is) is a ridiculous amount of money for him. Especially when he's okay defensively and not at all productive offensively.

Diop?

From West Ham?

Considering they are after Sarr and Thiago Silva (both on free transfers) tells me, they probably haven't got that much money left to really strengthen that defence. I don't even think there has been any links to goalkeepers which again is still a massive problem for them.

If there is something slightly reassuring, it's that all the noises we've heard from the club indicate José has a realistic list of transfer targets and (whether due to his weekly written reports on the squad or otherwise), we've got a Liverpool-style order of targets for each position in need and we can simply work down that rather than let a deal run until deadline day and find ourselves caught short.

To be honest, it's actually a bit of a relief. From his reputation at United, I worried that Mourinho would want unrealistic signings and then throw a shit fit when Levy didn't/couldn't deliver them. Instead, it seems for now that everyone is on the same page, helped in no small part I'm sure by Levy having coveted José for so long and knowing that he won't tolerate being messed around.

Yeh.... Said this a page or two back.... My gut tells me we're seeing a more grounded Jose who knows what the job is and isn't blinkered by the wealth he's previously had at his disposal.

....Also encouraged to see multiple links to each position of urgent need.

Who’s the perfect guy to identify the replacement for Aurier? Why it’s Hitchen, the man who identified Aurier. What could go wrong?

Why wouldn't it? You sound surprised but as Tottenham fan why would you even be shocked by it.
Let's get real here Kane would you assume like others to start having medals to show his family in years to come not a couple of finalists ones.
The question is can he achieve these top prizes at spurs, answer is probably not or at least very limited, so at 27/28 he might want to progress to a club that gives him a better chance.
If that happens then of course levy will ask heaven and earth for him, with that some funds would be allocated to the team with the rest helping to pay off outstanding loans, surely you can see the business brain of levy being all over this.

To be more precise with my wording:

I asked if you think the club would ever take initiative in selling one of our top player for big bucks, in other words before a player asks to leave himself. Do you believe the club would ever say "Hey player X, you are a certain starter in our XI, best in your spot, but in order to safeguard our investment we are going to have to sell you, sounds like a plan?"

So you think he won’t make the first team until 25?
I ask you again to please define "soon" for us. It's not a tricky question. Just trying to establish the parameters more precisely than the vague "soon". And Maguire isn't "first team" he's a starter on a top 4 club. And if we actually recruited like we need/should this summer Tanganga wouldn't even be 1st team as it stands.

I defined soon. How is it tricky?
I said over next season
You pressed disagree.

Sissoko, Trippier, Aurier, Davies and Winks were also starters in a top 4 club, who gave a fuck?

Did you use that to define quality for them? No so how does it define Maguire then?

Aye.... Bale, Walker, Modric, Berbatov all instigated their moves.

Hold it, so my 2-3 seasons was too long? Shite man you are off your rocker. You're saying that Tanganga will be "10x better than Maguire" (hyperbole understood) next season?

And my 'disagree' was probably just a general "fuck you Sammy" to get you going.

But yeah, if you think Tanganga is going to be better than Maguire and thus a starter for us (non-top 4) and killing it then you're mad. He probably won't get 20 games this season.

edit: oh, and Poch thinks you're shit.

Yes of course without question mate.

With considerable hesitation, I add this ramble from dragon1 to the thread.

----------------------------
Main striker target is playing in prem not at a bottom 3 team or top 4 from last seasons table so that gives u a good clue he will cost around 50 mil will only happen if we shift Tanguy we have interest in Tanguy but not at the 42 mill DL wants...(1/2)
...the striker will only happen if Tanguy goes imo unless we sell others and as things stand no firm interest in our players apart from serge. my feeling is serge and Tanguy will go and the Korean lad , 1 of the 3 right backs Ive spoken about and the striker will come in. (2/2)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the caveat that this is likely BS, the site that shall not be named thinks the main striker target is Danny Ings.

I disagree.

I think it's Raul Jimenez, given Wolves will not have European football this season.

I also note that RJ's agent is Jorge Mendes.

I like jimenez but spending 50 mill and losing tangy is not worth it. he's near 30
