Spending 25m-30m on a backup striker with like 100k/week wages would not have been particularly shrewd business, especially one with a dodgy knee like Milik. He's a good player, and I would have liked him, but the price isn't great. He's better than like Piatek or Willian Jose who we were linked with in January, for similar prices. If we are going to spend this kind of money on a player, I'd much rather it be someone who is playing regularly week in and out.
The club have been releasing plenty of intel that they are targeting a striker and they want to sign one, how about they just go and get the player they want. The squad needs a backup striker, surely they have someone in mind to get at this point. It really seems like we are just flying by the seat of our pants with no real plan here. Levy and Hitchen need to go make it happen or else we're basically punting this season and hoping that Harry Kane doesn't get another serious injury.
