Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

It doesn't matter how much the players costs if we can recoup that money (or better).

Ings seems a smart buy. 25-30m. Reasonable salary. Bags of Prem experience and there will be a queue out the door of prem teams who will want to buy him next summer.

Question is, will Saints bow to pressure on deadline day? Now that fans are out of stadiums for what could be the rest of the season; teams income streams are devastated and they need money to operate.
What pressure we haven't made a bid and certainly they won't sell for 25-30m.

25m? You're on the wrong drugs.

I personally would choose Milik out of all the striking options we are in for. First off, he’s obviously the natural striker back up we want for Harry, but more importantly he can also play wing forward if need be, so if we have injuries to Bale or even Sonny, then Milik can actually play further out wide If need be to cover that to. He’s much more versatile than the other forwards.

Manager in wanting 2 players for every position shocker.

I want Levy to address the weaknesses in the team which is the defence and not waste resources on a player who will not play for the majority of games.
I agree. But I would like Mourinho to point out these weaknesses and prioritize them. Which I'm sure he have. Not some always negative, ignored my most, user on a forum that contains the word cock.

So he should not listen to Mourinho then?

Yes - but what you are doing is taking a question continually asked by the press about a striker and his response as if this is the absolute pressing need we have. The press are as obsessed about a back up striker as some on here are.

What we need to do is address our obvious weakness which is our defence not a bloody reserve striker - not when we have Kane, Bale and Son

What I find interesting about Ings is that the Southampton board haven't come out and denied they'll sell Ings. It was reported that Southampton are one of the teams that have struggled most with the Covid pandemic, hence such little business. If it turns out now that they might not have fans until March 2021 then they might be forced to sell Ings.

However, if they are I imagine a queue of teams will be in for him.

Has Bale not deputised as a striker effectively in the past? I'm not saying we wouldn't benefit from one but if Bale can fill this role maybe he turns out to be a very good utility player filling in deeper, winger and forward positions when needed?
The problem is that Bale is better in another position. And we will have lots of fixtures this season (hopefully). Bale will be playing in his normal position when whole and Kane in his. I'f we need to rotate we can't put Bale in Kanes position because than he doesn't get any rest. We need a striker.

I think they'd be mad to sell now..... Get as many points on the board as possible and take a view in Jan. They could have a nice little bidding war from Man U, City, Chavs and more if their situations warrant interest.... (eg. Igalo= Lol, Aguero struggling with injuries, Werner not clicking).

If the board don't listen then it's going to end badly. It is a pressing need if it wasn't then Mourinho wouldn't mind if we don't get a striker.
