not even a foul he just kicked the ball and the Chelsea player got in the way. Terrible decision, one of the worse red’s I have ever seen.

Intent is irrelevant nowadays in the laws though that is the problem when combining it with VAR, especially when you slow VAR down.

All it needs to be for a send off is by using excessive force, endangering the safety of an opponent.
I don't think he used excessive force though, I think he used the appropriate force to kick the ball.
 
Hmm, I am not sure about it. I think he has left something on Chillwell on purpose. If you look closely his foot landing goes forward rather than backward in a kicking motion.
Can't be sure though and it is not a "clear and obvious error"; where has that test gone?
If the ref doesn't think he has done it deliberately, then he thinks kicking a ball is dangerous play...
